hi all,

i just got myself a 2005 panda 1.2 8v dualogic

i was examining the engine and found out that there is oil residue around the intake butterfly valve that is connected to the air box. is this normal? or there is a problem? thank you.

Hi

Interesting question which I do not know the answer but my recently purchased Panda has oil in exactly the same place.

I am please with mine and hope you are also.

Derek

for mine the prev owner prolly wreak the car, install after-market cone air filter (i removed it) with the default air filter, and jus a precaution, i changed the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, oil seals, fan belt since its at 114000km.

also tried changing the spark plug, while trying to free the spark plug, it broke, luckily my mech was able to easy out the broken spark, the other 3 i had to put on hold. Fearing that if it break and cant b easy out, the entire head has to come out and send to a machine shop.

Under the filter box, on the left as you see the car from the front, there is a hose that must be connected to this box, but it's most likely to be unpluged if someone ever removed it.
Look there, if it is correctly in place, or it just seams to be, because this hose may easily be cut and not fitted air tightly.

aint you just talking aboit engine oil vapour from the breather hose accumulating like a gum on the butterfly valve.

this is common due to cars not being allowed to vent to atmosphere when being built.

i have removed and cleaned my throttle body/ icv, tps assembly
also cleaned map sensor
and changed spark plugs whilst acces was easy
on refiting airbox with new filter i modified my breather to vent to atmosphere to stop this getting gummed up again

im refering to my mk2 punt 1.2 8v and may not be that different from yours

8valver, can you please post some pictures regarding the jobs you 've done?
It would be a great help for all of us!
