topped up coolant with water just for a week till it get service was under minimum and i topped it up to just short of max will it be ok guys keep getting told different things?

Depends on how good it was in the first place. Firstly you need to find out where its going, as it shouldn't really need topping up.
You can get hydro tester things for a few quid to check the coolant protection level also (£3.99 from halfords iirc) so will be worth getting one of those also

hydrometer mep ;-) they can be hard to read the floating disc type are much easier to read

a was told before ther is a slight leak but nothing to worry about its took just over a year to drop down below minimum so its not anything major just wanted to keep it topped up till mot week on monday but didnt wanna do more harm than good lol.
