Panda is still making gurgling noises from inside the cabin, temp sits at the middle on the guage after a few minutes, heating is hot and cold intermittently, tried bleeding it while hot and cold, gave the hoses a good squeeze, bled the rad and the nipple at the back of the engine, running with a mix of coolant and tap water. I'd like to sort this before the winter or I knacker the head, any advice greatly received. 1.1 Eco Active 30k on the clock.

Cheers

Denzle.

hi,
I've done mine twice with no issues..,
2004 1.1 active panda,

with a COLD system remove the radiator lower clip - single design use item - have a replacement to hand ( may be better on later cars)

get the engine + coolant warm / HOT - with the heater settings to HOT .. let system cool a little to reduce risk of scalding..!!
while wearing good gloves pull off bottom hose ,partially re-siting it will reduce the flow - catch coolant in a washing-up bowl, etc.

when the flow is down to a trickle, remove the radiator cap, and the coolant hose bleed nipple at rear of engine ( where it goes behind bulkhead into the heater matrix)

if the coolant it new-ish you can re-use it, certainly a good flushing agent.

Refit lower hose and tighten clip,
slowly refill the system until coolant appears from the bleed screw hole ,
refit and tighten the bleed screw,
then continue slowly filling until you get to the MAX level and RAD. sight tube ( a torch can be beneficial to spot level)

With the RAD cap OFF start engine and let warm-up at idle , when the temp gauge is towards 1/4 carefully open the bleed screw approx 1 turn,
coolant should dribble out,
return it to closed whilst coolant is still dribbling out ( this should let any last trapped air pockets work thier way out),
then refit RAD cap and open bleed screw once more to double check for trapped air,
if it dribbles immediatedy - that's great - otherwise hold 1 turn open until coolant dribbles out constantly once more - retighten , and let warm completely.

turn off -let cool and check levels before driving,

good luck,
Charlie
