Hello to all of you who are NOT watching the repeat of the Jubilee Concert!!! I have been out today and my radio has come on and gone off of its own free will. I originally thought it was when I hit a speed bump, but I left it in a car park and when I came back, it was playing away quite happily. I am worrying it could come on at night and drain the battery. Has anyone else had this problem before?

Some say that leaving a CD in the unit stops it happening, others reckon setting it to switch off with ignition rather than after 20 minutes works and a few suggest re-setting to "default" might cure while, finally, several state it's duff (technical term) and needs replacing - preferably with something better. Hope one of those does it for you....

(Watching a repeat of the concert??? Highlights of it first time 'round was bad enough, who told Macca, Elton and Cliff they can still carry a tune?)

Thanks for the info Pandablues, will try keeping a CD in it first, seems the easiest thing to do. You forgot about Stevie Wonder although I never thought he could sing! Rolf Harris filling in the gap before him was better, even without Music. Thanks again xx

Hello Nathan126, Yes I don't have an MP3 model. Will try what you and Pandablues both say and will keep a CD in it. That seems easiest. Previous Fiats : Old type Panda went up in flames parked in car port, written off but a little beauty. Fiat Cinquecento Sporting got a file as thick as my arm, with bits and pieces spent on it, at present towed behind our camper. I like it better than the current Panda xx

My radio came on once unexpectedly when new, but now 4 years later it hasn't done it again.
Would be useful if you gave your model of Panda, as the radios do vary on spec. The radio on my MJ dynamic switches off automatically after a period of time. This period of time is adjustable and the method to adjust the time is in the handbook. I'd suggest you set the time to as short as possible to conserve the battery.

Hi richardllew. My car is an 04 Dynamic in pale blue. The previous owner must have been colourblind as the upholstery is Mustard yellow. Yuk!!! The radio is the Radio/CD model but not MP3. My problem is NOT the radio switching OFF....but the radio switching ON when I don't want it on! Even when I switch it off, it keeps coming back on! It is a real PITA. I am going to try what the other guys suggest. Failing that I see in the Handbook there are 2 radio fuses, I will take them both out and I won't have any radio at all. Can't take the risk of it coming on during the night and draining the battery.

Yippee!!!! You've all sorted it for me! I have left a CD in the slot for the past 3 days....and the radio hasn't come on ONCE! Many many thanks to you. Carolyn
