Hi all I'm going to give my Panda multijet some injector cleaner, not for any particular reason just that it's done 33000 miles and I think prevention is better than cure!
Can anybody recommend any particular brand ?

Cheers

I shoved a bottle of Redex injector cleaner in. The car didn't feel any better, but I knew for sure I was £6 worse off. Worth every penny.

Tried redex in the panda and it made little if any difference. Wynns dry fuel on the other hand seemed to make her run a bit smoother so was probably a bit of condensation/water or something in the petrol. It claims to also clean injectors but dont know if there is a diesel version.

I'd save your hard earnt £££ and just fill up with a few tanks of V-Power to help clear / clean the system (y)

I'd save the hard earnt £££ and just fill up with 95 octane like it says in the manual.

V-power has no additional cleaning capabilities over plain petrol. Petrol is one of the strongest solvents available to the general public. If you ever pull apart the tank, fuel system and engine of a car that has been run regularly (every couple of months) and been serviced according to the factory specifications, you will find that it is absolutely spotless and clean.

Petrol only becomes a problem once you let it sit for long periods, 6 months or more. Even then, modern fuel-injected cars aren't nearly as affected by it as older cars with carbs that can gum up.

The only benefit to using V-power, BP Ultimate or similar high-octane petrols is the higher octane rating and your engine needs to be tuned specifically for it to gain any benefit.

Frankly I wouldn't advise the op to use 95 or any other octane petrol in his diesel!

Tried a few diesel injector cleaners. I think the cash is better saved for a proper ultrasonic clean when needed.

Always with the common sense

Anyway, no reason to use V-Power diesel or BP Ultimate diesel. It's all just a marketing gimmick.

Back in the days of Shell Optimax, the additional cleaning capabilities were the only benefits that WERE proven for the fuel... as far as I can remember anyway! There was an ASA adjudication which threw out most of Shell's claims, but agreed that the cleaning additives did work.

Can I find details anywhere to support this? Of course not, the ASA seems to have chucked away all their old adjudications from their website. Ah well. I'm pretty sure those were the findings anyway.

Not that I use V-power anyway any more. Last time was when I had a car where the handbook stated "use 5* 100 Octane leaded petrol" which was kind of hard to come by :)

Hi,
on the recommendation of my TRUSTED local garage ;
I used to do a diesel fuel filter change,
but instead of pre-filling it with diesel - I would put in FORTE diesel treatment,
then the injectors got a flush with 90 -odd % concentrate rather than 1 / 5 % in a tank of Diesel fuel,

always helped clean-up emissions for the MOT , so I stuck with it,

Charlie

Don't bother, snakeoil. These so called cleaners contain paraffin. Money making industry. You really need to do a search.
