After plugging in the electronic diagnostic tools reports fault with motorised throttle body.

I've got a note somewhere on resetting after cleaning by can anyone verify this sounds feasible after my 1.2 Fire developed a sudden loss of power & that meant I limped home at 15mph on the final mile of my journey home from work on Friday evening.

Any suggestions on cleaning / resetting or anything else I might be missing appreciated at this point, and I'm hoping to fix it at home as opposed to giving up and towing it to the main dealer now I have a clue what might be wrong.

I suppose if the motorised throttle body has failed - where can I get another to try / are these expensive, do they fail etc. Any/All pointers appreciated.:worship:

Never dealt with this sort of thing, but elsewhere in the forum, word is, remove and wipe with a rag (!) and, presumably, a suitable contact cleaner. They're not too expensive, depending on where you look,

New post - as I thought I had narrowed it down to a specific fault - readers of the list might recognise. I've cleaned it all up and its not that - so looking to recover to main dealer next week grr. more expense only to get back to where I was. Thanks for help though. Just all the earth's the check out again and I've done all I can then and will have to accept defeat. It could be anything from the motorised throttle body ECU failure to the coil-pack or a duff injector, despite the code reader. What a stupid idea the motorised throttle is on later cars - what was wrong with the good old cable from the pedal to the carb - as used on the Fire block reliably for the last 20 years grr!

Willdo but I think I'm clutching at straws now - I have one more earth to check and I'm faced with recovering the car to the main dealer in the morning - I've not been able to fix it, its beyond me unfortunately - and disappointing as I bought it because I thought it was a simple engine - the canbus, ecu, electrically actuated throttle and general design has beaten me - and I think I want a mk.1 4x4 now, or even my old Discovery 1 back - I could fix anything on that and it lasted me 5 years without a hitch. I'm not a man that likes to rely on main dealers, but I have the drawer the line somewhere - I've spent hours on it already and its probably the last modern Fiat I'll buy. I'm preparing myself for expensive words like "ECU" or "throttle motor" - in which case I may be faced with towing it home again and sourcing some used parts from the scrap yard as its not worth spending hundreds on it.:bang:

Hey most easterly,Is there a law about asking again? Maybe someone else may have another idea! Too many post police on these sites to suit me!!(n) Just maybe the original post did not have the answer.

No law, but when someone searches the same symptoms as in the origional post find that post but then doesn't find any of the answers because they've been posted in another thread how's it going to help?

I'm not post policing, just trying to make it easier for people in the future! If the origional thread didn't have someone answer yet is doesn't mean that suddenly someone will pop up with one just because there is a new thread. ;)

And what's 'these sites' about?? Don't go clumping us all together now then! Hang around and post about and you'll soon find out we're friendly enough

Any further news Masha? I fully appreciate your point about modern electronics preventing roadside repairs of old - ie: anything could be made to work with just a roll of ducktape, cable ties and silicon sealer. But remember how bad Mk1/2 Panda electrics were and how 'most' modern stuff is now so much more reliable.

Your issue really can't be unsurmountable and although it may take a Fiat Stealer to diagnose, you should be able to find another throttle body in a breakers if that turns out to be the case. Keep the faith - for a while at least yet!
