Need some guidance please. My Panda 100HP is on annual servicing as i do very low miles - its a 2010 reg and has only 6k on the clock.
This will be its 2nd service.
Do i need to change the spark plugs - my interpretation of the schedule says no, it is controlled by mileage (18k approx), but the dealer is trying to flog this as part of the service?

I wouldnt bother, I changed them on my 2007 car last year at 12,000 miles and they looked in good condition anyway. Just ask for/pay for an oil change/service stamp.

FWIW I did the air/pollen filter myself last year too - the pollen filter looked mucky but the air filter looked OK (well not completely trashed).

Just checked Autodata and for a low mileage car (one doing less than 12000miles/20000km a year) it has a sparkplug change at 40000km/24000miles regardless of years.

I'd get a new mechanic. Spark plugs are worn by mileage, not age.

Very true.

However, there is a risk of them seizing in the head if they are fitted 'dry' & left undisturbed for too long. If you're only doing a very low mileage, it's still worth removing them every 12 months & applying a smear of Cu grease to the threads - much cheaper & easier than stripping down the engine & helicoiling the head if the worst happens.
