I have a 100hp and have been following the Koni upgrade thread. The Koni dampers are expensive at over £100 each, so I have contacted Gaz who are willing to make some adjustable rear dampers for approx £65.00 + vat each. All he requires is an original as they have not produced these before.
So my question is dose any one have an original damper they can donate to give more people an option than the Konis?

Cheers

You get what you pay for. If a company is so tight that they're not going to buy a used shock off ebay then are they really worth dealing with?

Welcome to the forum. Everyone with a 100hp is looking for the miracle buckaroo cure.

That Turner bloke from the Arctic Monkeys is just settling the Koni's in, so we wait to find the final opinion.

As for Gazshocks, I guess they've been around a while. I'm sure they're the kind of company that wouldn't tool-up without some prior committment, hence they want you to supply the original.

We could ask someone who's closer to their factory in Essex to pop in, but that's unlikely as everyone from Essex drives Escort Turbo replicas I think.

Perhaps if you gave them an order (pay up front) they'd make the effort and tool-up. But there are no guarantees I guess.

To be fair Gaz are good quality and have very good customer support. Ask Koni to produce a damper with a potentialy very small market and you will be told where to go.
I think people are staring to fit Gaz full coilovers to the AB 500's.

I am sure someone will be interested in the £60.00 saving and the Gaz have an adjuster at the base of the shock.

Any damper used as an example would surely have to be new so that they could get the original characteristics off it; some rusty object that's knocking around because it's been replaced, even after a few months, is not going to do the bus. Adjustment in situ is certainly an attractive thought but at the moment I plan to spend the extra and go for the Konis.

Getting new shock absorbers developed to save £23/side seems a little over the top, although it would be good for people to have some more choice. I'd tend to agree with 306maxi...if the company are serious about developing new shocks, they could probably afford to pick a brand new one up for next to nothing from Eurocarparts...

Exactly. Koni's and Bilstein's have a proven record and you know that it won't have been made simply based off a 2nd hand part.
