Hi guys, as my Panda was due a service anyway, i've booked her in for a silver service tomorrow and theyre going to see if they can re-program the key. That'll cost £45, if it doesn't work then i'll have to think about a new key.

Will let you know the outcome (y)

(and price.. )

Had fun racing my dad's Mjet all the way to the dealer, was interesting seeing how they compare :slayer:

Do forget to obtain a copy of the key and immobiliser code for your £45 (y)

£182!!!!!!!!!!!!! aren't there any auto locksmiths nearby you can contact? even if it meant a trip over the water it could be cheaper than that

what type of key is it for that price? remote or basic transponder key?

It's a remote key :)

I'll have a look for and auto locksmith, must be worth a phone call at least.

And like Jon said i could try what's mentioned above.
I just don't like throwing money at something i don't know will work :p

Think i'll end up with a new one, at least it's a sure fix.. but will look in the yellow pages tomorrow (y)

if the immobiliser chip isn't inteegrated into the remote main board then it could work. It would be a case of getting a new blade cut for the key, removing the original chip & replacing it with the new 1 then having it programmed to the car.

If the chip is integrated into the circuit board then it's a bit trickier. It can possibly be desoldered & replaced. Not something i've tried yet. I've had quite a few renault customers call me with faulty keys that aren't turing the immob off so car won't start.

These are keys where the immob chip is integrated into circuit board & the chip has stopped working. What i've done for them is just pop a new chip in the remote case & program it to the car.

Also not all used remotes can be programmed to operate c/locking on a different vehicle. A lot can, i've done it with vauxahll, Ford & vw/audi group cars. Never fiat though
