I've been watching the prices of these cars for a long time now and have noticed a pattern.

The only used 4x4 pandas available seem to be nigh on 100% from woodleigh motor company. I have noticed that the used ones that do show up in eBay dissapear and then show up at woodleigh for a substantial premium.

I realise this is how the motor trade works but the prices they ask are so far and away above book prices it's unreal.
I mean, back a couple of years ago you could buy a brand new climbing for the same price they want for a four year old with 80k miles!

By buying up all used stock in the uk they are keeping prices artificially high.

Makes me think that I should maybe get in on their game. I can't understand people paying such mega prices for these cars, but they must do as woodleigh keep to the same formula.

Funny you should mention this. I live 2 miles from Woodleigh. They generally have the highest prices on any car, but yes, seem to specialise on the 4x4 lately. In the 1970's they were a FIAT dealer and have continued to trade in FIATs - usually offering high prices and 0% finance.

Truth is, it's supply and demand on the 4x4. We all want one. And the closer we get to December, the greater the demand.

I think FIAT dropped the ball by stopping selling the 4x4 here in the UK. Just after we'd had the worst winter on record. Euro blah blah I know.

So............in the meantime, you me and everyone else keeps flicking trovit, autotrader and ebay - waiting for that car to pop-up.......

For the record - I want:

a) An orange Cross
or
b) Tropicalia yellow 4x4 (there is at least 1!)

Still, I can console myself with having one of a very few 11reg Panda 100hp's!

You have to keep looking every day to beat woodleigh though. (y)

Me, I've seen crosses at tidy prices like £5995 which sold in a day, then stupid prices like £11,995 recently for a 2008 car, from Thames fiat, the place where drchris got his new for nearly 3 grand less 3 years ago. I should have bought one then.

I've seen 4x4 climbing 2009 model for £6k which is about right I would say, but woodleigh with 5 year old cars for more than they were new!!
It's business though and if people are desperate to get one, then more fool them. the premium people are paying for the 4x4 drivetrain over the 2 wheel drive is amazing.

I don't even want one until may 2012 when my C1 goes back, they may have announced the new model by then, but I can't imagine it's going to be anywhere near cheap.

I want an orange cross too, there's only a few in the country. A couple of members on here too.
It would match perfectly my boat :D

Yes my Cross was £9500 almost exactly 3 years ago but from Perry's not Thames.
If the new model 4x4 is good and the right price my Cross might be for sale but don't hold your breath.
Also not sure I want Italian build quality after Polish.
Mine's black, I wanted orange but my family vetoed it.

Alas yes............I'm not the only one old enough to have started my driving life with Alfasuds and the problem South-Italian build quality.

FIAT perplex me sometimes. Quite why they would tool up RHD for the big Panda (Lancia Ypsilon) and sell it over here as a Chrysler is beyond me. Still, if anyone can't wait for a Twinair Panda I suppose they'll get lucky.

As for the Woodleigh - they had a MINT 1991 Sisley for sale 4 years ago at £1500. Should have bought it.........oh well.

Has anyone phone Birmingham council to see if their two white Panda Cross's are for sale? They coudl make a killing!

In that case you could get more than you paid I bet. :D

Did you do an LPG conversion on it then?

Ah - but I wouldn't part with the car (well, maybe if I had the money and nice Cross came along....)!

I had the lpg conversion done on the Panda - well worth doing if you are keeping the car and don't like petrol station visits regularly!

Mine's yellow - possibly Tropicalia? - anyhow, it looks like custard, rather than a bright yellow.

An orange Cross or indeed a white one would have been my first choice, however the little yellow one in my drive will have to do for now. At least that is until the next generation one becomes available.

The custard yellow is probably Mambo yellow. They've offered that yellow on the Panda from launch, though i think it had a different name initially. Tropicalia Yellow (kinda Buttercup colour) joined the Panda range just after the 500 was launched as it was originally a 500 colour :)

Was looking on AutoTrader at Pandas a few hours ago & there was 1 4x4 Climbing on there and a green Cross at TJ Vickers Fiat in Telford, incase anyone wants to dash down there and snap it up ;)

The Tropicalia yellow 4x4 was literally available fo something like 3-6 months in 2010 only. There's a photo of one on the internet. Doubt many exist.

The other yellow is the vanilla yellow used on the other Pandas.

Nevertheless, the value of you car increases with every day we get closer to December...........

Anyone buying the LHD 1995 Country Club? £2750?

Ohhhhhhhhhh too late..............it's sold. Now, let's just wait for the £7000 red 4x4 to come up for sale.

And shortly to be followed by the already aggressively priced 58 plate Cross on Autotrader.

Forget investing in gold...........

Trouble is, come the first big snows of winter (which incidentally the doomongers say will be 'significant' this year), they'll sell every one of them - probably to annoyed owners of Q7's, RR's, Cayenne's etc, fed up with being laughed at by cheeky Italians.....
