Well the other half has bought a brand new Panda for the tedium of commuting into Dyce(n)

Anyway after owning it a whole 10hours the questions start.

Its a boggo bottom of the range 1.2 with zero bull**** which is great

The questions are

Is the stereo meant to switch on and off with the ignition as it appears not to(n)

Does it tell her when it is due a service or does it rely on her knowing what milage to take it into the garage on.

Does the bottom of the range have any form of ESP as i thought that was an EU thing that all new cars must have some form of ESP.

Has anyone seen a dog guard that fits behind the front seat if the back seats are down?

Can you get a tow bar for it for towing a small trailer?

The stereo runs for IIRC 15 minutes with the ignition off. It doesn't turn off with the key.

Service indicator? Noooo.

No ESP. You need standard fit ESP to get five NCAP stars but there's no regulatory requirement.

Dunno about a dog guard.

Yes you can get a tow bar. The Panda is quite handy at towing for a small car as it will take a nose weight of 60kg.

Is the time built into the stereo or the wiring loom.

So if I introduce Mr Stereo to Mr Bin and fit a better one will it still do this 15 minutes rubbish?

AFAIK it's all in the stereo. I think on models higher up the range you can configure it in the stereo but on the Active's one you can't.

No it doesn't go off with the ignition but it does switch itself off if you live it for a while, then it comes back on again when you open the door.

No it has no service indicator

It has ABS and something called EBD (electronic brake distribution) it is not ESP but it is more advanced than standard ABS.

No idea

You could but as it is such a small car with a small engine you're asking for clutch trouble etc. There just isn't enough torque.

This is all based on my 2010 Active, so it will be similar to yours, but yours as a better engine.

I've a towbar on my multijet. Got it off ebay for £67. Tows my garden trailer no problems. My stereo also has a setting in the menu to turn it off on the ignition.

This is the Active, so the radio does not have those options. It is a very basic affair, the options are bass, treble, balance and traffic on or off.

It is not the same unit you get in most the other Pandas.

I have an 2011 Dynamic. There is a setting to say switch radio off at 0 minutes, or 20 minutes. I think if you set it to 0 (as mine is) then it will switch off straightaway.

My Smarts Radio comes ON every time the engine is started, even if you switched it off when turning the engine off.It drives me mad. I wish there was a setting on the radio to stop this happening.

My MJ is 6 years old and the stereo has settings in the menu under 'ignition timing' of 0 or 30 mins. I actually like the option of turning the stereo off manually.

When I'm in and out of the car a lot, having the stereo on '0' means that every time I start it, I have to adjust the volume manually. There's no way of setting the intial on volume and it's a bit quiet for me.

Leaving your stereo on for 30 mins with ignition off is unlikely to drain your battery that much, unless it's on its last legs. Also, you can have the radio on whilst cleaning the car without having to leave the ignition on. Pressing the LH button briefly also puts it into mute mode which is handy.
