My daughters Panda was not fitted with a power socket as standard. I bought one which fits between the 2 front seats if you take out a little storage tray. Under the storage tray I was happy to find an electric feed with a plug which fits perfectly into the lighter socket. When turning the headlights on the light on the power socket works however the socket itself does not.

I'm trying to find the fuse, the replacement owner manual supplied by the dealer says it is Fuse number F85 but that fuse doesn't seem to exist in our car. Can anyone please tell me where I would find the fuse for the Fiat Panda Active 1.1 56 reg power socket. Perhaps in another manual it has another number. We have tried both the fuse panel next to the battery in the engine and also the panel to the right of the steering column.

Any help in locating the fuse would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If there is an electrical feed in place, it must be attached to a fuse, perhaps the dealer gave us the wrong user guide and perhaps the fuse has another number??? Any help appreciated, thanks

The 1.1 Actives that don't have a cig socket as standard, also do not have it's fuse, it's terminals in the fusebox, or it's relay- for all of the £5 it saved Fiat in production costs and parts.

If you want one, you'll have to wire it in yourself unfortunately. There's several threads on it if you search.

The point I'm trying to make is that this is probably the right fuse (it's the right number for the fuse in the 500), the fact that there is no fuse in that slot may well be the reason the cigarette lighter isn't working....

Edit: Completely disregard everything I said, I obviously can't read and should be ignored in this thread :D

The thing is that that slot doesn't exist so there is not only no fuse but there is no slot!!

Danny - thanks but how come the light on the power socket comes on when the headlights are turned on? This must mean that there is power down there and why would they put all the wiring in if it doesn't go anywhere. Louise

The light feed will be off a common branch of the loom that supplies all of the dash lights too (and fused seperately).

You will often find wiring dead-ends/ unused connectors/ etc in looms for optional extras which were available. It's cheaper to produce 2 or 3 loom versions to cover everything than to design and produce a seperate harness to cover every variety of Panda.

Why Fiat decided to de-spec the cig lighter? I can't answer, but it was a stupid idea and was forever causing us grief with new owners who felt cheated out of what is standard on 99%, if not all, cars.

Thanks for your help. How ridiculous. And I was so pleased that I managed to fit it too! I guess I will have to go to my local mechanic to see if he can create a new power supply. Perhaps I should buy her a map for her birthday instead of a sat nav:eek:
