hey all!

my mother's had her panda since new from '06, i've suggested it's about time she had the coolant/antifreeze changed (by me) as it usually only lasts 4/5 years and winters coming up, that and the last thing you want to do on these engines is neglect the cooling system.. for obvious reasons.

i had a look in the service book but it doesn't seem to mention a coolant change at all.

anyone offer any advice on what they've done/would do?

thanks, Alex

From Selenia website

"Paraflu UP , [UP=Ultra Protection] is a long life coolant which is an Organic Acid Technology {OAT} which has a life of at least 5 years."

So you are on the button to renew it now (assuming the car still has the original Parflu red in it)

thought it was around 4/5 years, thanks for that!

unfortunately, i'm all too familiar with the FIRE engine's cooling system :ROFLMAO:

let's hope i wont see the HG on this one for a while yet :D

The FIRE engines cooling system is fine, it's normally the design of it on specific models and owners failing to maintain them ;)

We've never had a HG go on a Fiat (reaching out to touch a piece of wood as we speak :p).

i did my gp every 2 years using comma OAT http://www.commaoil.com/productsguide/view/6/351/XSR5L

not a big job to do just makesure you purge all the air out and bleed the radiator and upper bleed port on the matrix (if fitted)

As MEP simple way of flushing is as he describes wont get every last drop of the old coolent out due to the matrix been lower than the inlet and outlet pipe

i know it is, i'm just familiar with it after doing a few HG jobs on FIRE engines, 2 being my own, a few being friends of friends ;)

that why i want the old coolant out and fresh stuff in, neglecting the cooling system on a FIRE engine is a big no no :p
