Technical Rusty Back Box

our 2004 1.1 active , needed a back box after 4 years.. too many short journeys..,
so I just got one of the German ones from Ebay ( £26 delivered IIRC) , VIA Cheshire!
it's slightly louder ,but ABSOLUTELY identical to look at, and thats holding up OK,
no noticable gains or losses , but all done and fitted for less than £30 = ideal.

our forward pipe is pretty scabby but sound , and at 7 years old and 70K ,
I'm happy,
Charlie

Cheers Charlie,
I spotted the Ebay silencers from Germany, but dismissed them as baking foil!

Interesting to here your front pipe has lasted, though scabby, sounds the same as mine.

I heard back from MIJ, £254.99 for a custom made cat back system in stainless, built and fitted while I wait, life time guarantee.
That's not much more than buying the genuine Fiat items and fitting them myself (with a 4 minute guarantee)
Tempting, as a full hand built stainless for my Alfa Spider was near a grand!!

My way of thinking is that these pattern systems don't last, just a waste of money, Bakofoil is better quality.
The genuine one lasted four years, I'd have hoped for another year, but it's only used as a short trip town car.

If I replace with a cheapo, I'll get 3 years or so for £250 ish fitted.
If I replace with genuine, I'll get 4 years or so for £250 ish plus fitting.
If I replace with a stainless, it'll last a life time, guaranteed. For £255 fitted.

The stainless on my Alfa has been on nearly 5 years and it looks as good as the day it when on, the factory fitted stainless on my Jag is 7 years old and flake free.

I've just convinced myself :D
No brainer really.
