Was noticing today while driving yet another strange noise, a high pitched mechanical rattle when the revs are at bout 2200rpm. When stationary I tried to replicate the revs related rattle but it's impossible. The accelerator probably moves about 5mm with no effect on the revs but 1mm past that point and it revs beyond 2200. I can hear the rattle as the engine passes this rev point but can't hold it there whether I press the peddle with my foot or hand. It sort of feels like it's sticking. I'm not sure if the system is cable or electrical. Has anyone else suffered from this in the past?

The throttle is a fly by wire one. There is almost always going to be a "dead" zone with all throttles tbh and I doubt it's anything to worry about.

Try teaching people to drive for the first time in one! :D

As Maxi says, it's a fly-by-wire throttle system. The 'dead zone' is designed-in to help with fuel economy and to minimise emmissions.

If you [or anyone else] are unhappy, take a look here:

With sport mode on, these symptoms will exist. If without though, there may be a small problem. Do you notice the lack of response and then "jump" when driving slowly like in a traffic queue? This is apparent a small amount with sport mode on normally anyway.

You can check the issue with FIATECUScan for free if you have a suitable cable. This will show the pedal % movement and the throttle butterfly position. There is a physical "dead zone" before the pedal % starts to rise, but I believe sometimes there can be a gap before the throttle body reacts too. It is as if it has gone out of sync. Possibly sortable with a proxi-alignment. Also implementable with FIATECUScan paid version.

I have this issue with my modified Panda that uses the same ECU and butterfly as yours, but because of the heavy modifications I made to the system, I am unable to run a proxi-align to fix.

This is happening without sport mode on and yes there is a jump. I was reading another thread about a gearbox mount failing. It's been jumpy since I got it and suspected worn engine mounts but the stationary test rules that out. What lead would I need for the ECUscan?
