I probably won't do this myself, I've changed speakers on old bangers but don't want to mess with the Panda too much.

I also will probably do this in a few months time, not yet.

Anyway I was thinking of upgrading the head unit and stock paper speakers. I don't want anything fancy, I am an audiophile and not really into the ICE sound with stupidly deep bass etc.

I listen to mainly rock based genres (indie, classic rock and punk mainly) and the lack of clarity on the Panda is starting to annoy me a little. What speakers would you upgrade to? Also my stock single DIN head unit goes more than loud enough, so it it worth upgrading this? I know more power gives you more control over the music, and it is not just about loudness, but I don't know how good the or bad the standard unit sounds because the speakers are a major limiting factor.

Hope this makes sense.

You could go to halfords and ask to see the chart for custom fit speakers for your car then buy them there or look on eBay with your reference numbers. have you thought of dynamating the doors, that's my summer project. Buy some good trim removal tools first as screwdriver gouges look ugly.

I would want to keep it looking as original as possible, and may even consider a Panda double din unit.

I just want more crunch to the guitars, the vocals to sound more natural a bit more space around the instruments. At the moment on heavier rock tracks it can get a bit muffled even at lower volumes.

I have no problem with the standard speakers, rock, dance, rnb, its more than enough at loud volume, i've played with the settings and got it sounding crisp. I havent evan got the sub under the seat. Don't know why you'd need it tbh

My HIFI system is to big it won't even fit in a Panda, so I think we need to get things into perspective. As far as standard car audio goes the Panda sounds ok, especially when its just a small car.

But it sounds dull, and its only when I listen to the tracks at home I realise just how bad the car is. I am not expecting it to sound as good as my HIFI system where the CD player alone cost me £300, £300 amp, £200 speakers, £50 cables, £200 DAC etc etc.

All I really want to do is add some clarity to mid range. I might try some of the suggestions. Thanks.

Upgrading my headunit to a Sony Xplod made a huge difference to the sound in my Panda. I am still using the standard speakers too without a sub. If you're looking just for a bit of volume, change the headunit first and see what you think :)

To be fair I've had both stock system and the factory upgraded system. The stock system is passable, nothing more. The difference having the six speaker system with the addition of the sub compared to the 4 speaker stock system is night and day.

I was never satisfied with the stock system, but loved the upgraded system I had in my 100hp.

Volume is the last thing I want, I just want more openness in the mid range. For example somthing like the doors "People are strange" sounds a bit tinny in the Panda, but on my HIFI it sounds like they are playing in my room. I want a bit of that naturalness to the midrange in my car.

Perhaps the standard speakers were also uprated when the CD only head unit was replaced by the MP3 jobbie.

My sporting had the non MP3 head unit, so I’ve fitted my SD card Pioneer unit. I still need to purchase the facia plate (if I keep the Panda) and it looks a bit odd being able to see all round the HU, but I’m normally looking at the road so not bothered for now.

Even with the High Pass filter at 125Hz the standard speakers can’t hack even a moderate SPL. They rattle and fart badly so I would have to replace them quick smart. I don’t think they are blown, just business as usual in the FIAT audio department.

I must confess I’ll be adding a sub too at some stage if I can find one small enough.

Blaupunkt makes one that fits nicely underneath your seat without getting in the way of rear seat passengers' feet: http://goo.gl/OMBWT

Now, 70 watts RMS probably won't do justice to the "Bassy McBass and His All-Bass Big Bass Band - XXXtra BASS edition" music of today's youth. But it fills out the bottom of any sort of music nicely.

I have one in my Panda and I will definitely be putting one (or its big brother) in my next car. When set up right it's like you've just bought a pair of bigger better speakers, more 'fullness' to the sound without becoming boomy (y)

Agreed that a sub makes all the difference. I just had the standard upgrade and it gave a lot of depth to the sound. Sure I could rattle all the mirrors if I turned it up, but at a medium level it made all the difference. So probably just adding an underseat sub will work wonders.

I replaced my speakers with Clarion and used the old speakers as a housing by ripping the cone out and trimming the housing to fit. They then went straight back in no problem and as i soldered the connections to the original housing this meant i could also just plug straight back into the normal loom. I am in the process of awaiting for my double din facia kit do arrive to finish off my Double din install which is all in the Panda just no facia as soon as i have this and fitted it i will have pictures up.

The Panda is one of the most easiest cars to fit after market speakers i have come across the hardest part is just removing the door panel,

Did you replace the stock rear speakers with 5 inch speakers (13 cm) or with 6.5 inch speakers? Stock speakers are 6.5 inch in the front and 5 inch at the rear. I am curious if it is possible to fit 6.5 inch speakers at the rear when using the stock speaker housings.
