Thought it most relavent to post here rather than the Quaife LSD thread.

I would hold off buying a (expensive) QDH3K LSD for now. If you don't get terrible torque steer, clutch slip and differential/ inboard driveshaft joint failure in that order soon, you aren't making enough power, surely? Basically, longer term you are going to want to move to the Abarth style (C510) box with even length driveshafts and a better choice of larger clutches I would have thought, which needs a different LSD (QDH2K). Also the ratios of a standard 100HP box are so inappropriate for a turbo application- there is a complete spectrum of ratios available in the other gearbox type.

Basically, I would see how you go first.

not soo bad i guess. I was looking at Koni Red Shocks for my Vito the other day and they were significantly more expensive than all the other shocks you can get for a vito. Think they are shortened shocks though and can't find any other shortened ones - which i need as i am ordering 60mm kit for it. Can't confirm they are shortened as of yet though.

yes it does, one of the prettiest cars ever, and it changed motoring completely forever. Racing cars also were never the same after the cobra.
For me one the most important cars in history. I can see why people don't like the copies adn there is alot of crap out there - some of them are amazing though - you really have to get up close and personal to tell they aren't genuine.

Anyhoo, we're completely off topic now. Any updates??

Without them copies many younger people these days would never see a cobra though..

That's my point - they don't see a Cobra now, they see (I think) a plastic shell over Jaguar mechanical bits - it's only connection to the Cobra is a similar shape - it's further from a Cobra than a photo of the Mona Lisa is from the original.

Just to give an example of why AC lost money - the ends of the wishbone tubes, in high grade seamless tubing - were centreless ground (one of my jobs) and then hand brazed into the uprights (machining those another of my jobs). There was a considerable amount of hand-fettling to fit doors and so on. I also worked on the famous "Willment Cobra" - a 427 chassis with an old Frua-made body (if I remember aright) from a Fiat *v mounted on it. The early 428s - sharing Frua external panels with a Maserati model - were also coming back from Italy while I was there.

it's a total rebuild ac cobra-quite a good one obviously-he's got a good name at the cobra enthusiast shows-just been asked to build another for private client.

back on topic then, cars making around 148 BHP at the moment and extremely quick! however we have intermittent clutch slip under load in 5th. Can anyone recommend a decent clutch which could handle the extra 50-70 BHP over standard which works? thanks peeps. pics and more stuff coming soon-just trying to get it all sorted e.t.c.

I think this is a difficult one to solve with off the shelf parts. I said 2 weeks ago that you would have the problem. It is an issue I would like to know the solution to as well as I am planning a turbo project that may have to use a C514 gearbox.

You already are using the largest clutch plate you can (200mm). You can fit an Uno Turbo/Punto GT clutch plate straight on which will help and can take the power. The issue then is whether you need a better cover to apply the plate. The UT/PGT one won't fit, but you could try the most heavy duty one FIAT make for the flywheel which will be the heaviest car that has the engine. That is a 2007 Bravo.

That's all I know. Otherwise you are talking a custom thing I think as there seems poor choice in after-market stuff for the sort of torque that turbos produce.

Again i'm not in the know in this section but would you not be able to fit a complete 500abarth gearbox, clutch and flywheel to this?? This could clearly cost £££'s but wouldn't work?

Yes, I said this a couple of weeks ago too. C510 gearbox + need drive shafts and hubs too. Another source for parts is the higher power version of the MultiJet 500 which has suitable ratios too.

can anyone tell me what clutch parts to go about ordering to help cope with the huge power increase. want the clutch to be good for 160-180 bhp. are there any which will be standard fit to the panda? do i need all the bits or just wheel and cover? the car is back from jamsport however clutch is slipping badly and it has other issues which im trying to sort this week. thankyou for any help guys-is quite a crappy time to be honest while the motor is 'off road' so to speak and with all the problems i dont even want to drive it at the moment /sadface
