Hi

Could someone kindly recommend me a connection for my iPhone 4 into the standard radio on my 100HP? I have the phone hooked up fine but want to now be able to listen to music / podcasts through the speakers

On Ebay I've seen this one

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-iPod-iPhone-Interface-Adaptor-Fiat-Panda-Doblo-/170626392950?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=item27ba202376

Or there is the official Fiat one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAT-GRANDE-PUNTO-500-PANDA-STILO-LINEA-IPOD-KIT-/390084328835?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Terminals_Cabling_ET&hash=item5ad2d67d83

A couple of questions for those in the know:

1. Assuming I go for the Fiat one (although they both look similar) how is easy is it to hide the box?

2. Does connecting the phone via this type of lead interfere with the Bluetooth hands free functionality of the phone? I've got mine paired up and working nicely and I dont want to mess it up.

3. Where do you tend to mount the phone when plugged in? If you have a suction mount onto the windscreen I assume you would have to have a long run of cable coming up the dash, assuming you exit the cable from the bottom down by the cup holders. Or....

4. Could you use the official Fiat cup holder / Iphone holder (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-FIAT-500-PANDA-MULTIPLA-IPOD-HOLDER-BNIB-/390279600823?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ade7a1ab7
and mount the phone in the cup holders down on the floor. Less accessible , but no trailing leads.

5. Does the official Fiat lead charge the Iphone 4? It's ambiguous from the description.

And finally.....

6. What type of keys do I need to remove the radio and any ideas where to get them?

Apologies for the shopping list of questions but hopefully someone has tackled this and can oblige. Thanks in anticipation!

The parrot may do it but it looks like at least two unnecessary boxes kicking around the dash...

Ok parrot mki9000 all you have is a small dial On the dash.the iPhone cable cable drops down into the glove box or move it about to where you want it. OR if you only use iPod occasionally take the dial off the dash and then fit when wanted.

Hi,

I have my phone mounted to the dash using the Brodit Proclip. I have the one that mounts beside the gearstick with the appropriate iPhone holder (also from Brodit) attached to the front.

To get the "pumpin' choonz" through the stereo I have an XCarLink which seems to work just fine although after fitting you'd have thought I had been self-harming - those Poles seem to have finished off the dashboard in my car by dropping a handful of razor blades down it :-/

All-in-all it seems to work pretty well although the stereo could still do with more "oomph" - although why I'd need that when I mostly use it to listen to Radio 2 I just don't know!

Hope that helps,

Alan

Thanks Alan, that's helpful: I'm investigating the Brodit as we speak..

Don't know if your sorted yet,but if you use Fiats kit there is no need to touch head unit. There is a block connector cable tied to the back of the passenger airbag. The kit pllugs straight into that and the box fits snugly above the glovebox with the cable free to come out wherever you wish. I used the small hole inside the top of the glovebox, but just as easy to exit to cup holders. Don't think it will charge iPhone 4,I am using just for an iPod.
