Hi all;
I have owned a Fiat Panda 1.2 dynamic since new, 2004 model, I have always serviced it myself, now it is touching nearly 35k, passed every MOT no problems, this year though, I had to replace. tie/track rod ends, fr wheel bearings, pads and discs,
this is the 3 set of pads since new and I have now fitted Brembo, they are fantastic. really recommend these, you can feel the difference,
I had a gearbox problem last week or so, I changed the clutch, this is when I noticed that the gearbox linkage turet was bent and worn, I replaced this along with the clutch, bearing and also the release bearing fork arm,
Wow, what a difference, really the car flies, really responsive, I mean really responsive,
I fitted the Borg and Beck clutch kit, rather than the AP clutch kit, very highly recommeded, very noticable increase in performance, when I fitted the bearing fork arm I moved it 3 notches towards the clutch slave, now the gear change is fast you only have to dab the pedal to change gear,
I also made a quick shift gear lever, superb, and easily done,
Also I fitted a few years ago a K and N cone filter. I made My own induction box,,
so performance wise. the rolling road test, orginal figure was bhp69 from new, added the air filter 4 years ago, then bhp was 76 at the wheels, todays reading is a monster 107bhp at the wheels, wow, it was tested twice same reading,
so the message here is, it is not how much you spend on your car it what you do that counts,

My God ,what the hell are you doing to go through 3 sets of pads and wear out wheel bearing track rod ends etc,in under 35000 miles.?. My 100HP is still on its original pads and showing no signs of wear to its suspension components. with the same amount of miles on the clock.

Yes I thought that, why is My car eating away the brakes etc, its hardly used, I gues the fact that we live in a hilly area , combined with short streets etc,
The tie/track rods were only noticed to be worn / broke when I had to remove them them to change the clutch, otherwise I would not have noticed they well worn ,

Hold on , you say "hilly area" I live in the South Wales valleys, there hardly a flat bit of road around every other mile there's a b****y hill ,pot holes speed humps litter the roads , So I don't think you can use that excuse.:D.

107bhp at the wheels from just putting on an air filter and air box, from an ancient 1.2 8v?

Thinking about it I don't believe you could possibly have 76bhp at the wheels and I seriously doubt, (find it pretty much impossible to believe) that an air filter is going to give 7bhp and that would have to be at the flywheel.

I don't believe you would get anywhere near that at the flywheel, no chance. Or, have I missed something here, I mean it just sounds bonkers to me.

Sounds bonkers to me too. My 2010 Euro4 Panda is only rated @ 60bhp & the idea of somehow practically doubling that by fitting an air box is simply not credible.

Anyhow with fuel prices as they are, I'm more interested in seeing 60mpg than 60bhp or 60mph.

I think April Fools' Day has arrived early this year - just off into the garden to pick some spaghetti......

come on guys, My Panda is an un tamed beast, I can't help it that you all seem to have bought the underpowered version of this wagon,

come on the 100HP, i have only seen these in my rear view mirror, or parked up on the side of the road with the bonnet up,

And yet, here, https://www.fiatforum.com/panda/264211-fiat-panda-1-2-clutch-help.html?p=2716311 you say it was done by a little back street garage in exchange for crinklies....
Yep, was having gear change problems, took out gearbox myself, replaced all the items, ie clutch, bearing and other, put it back in the car and was unable to select 1 and R, could not work it out, drove it to many garages including Fiat, nothing except buying a new box, as stated from Fiat,, but that mechanic in the backstreet garage , found that the gearbox gear selector turet was worn at the bottom end, showed me it too, which caused it to bend slighty, causing the gear select problems,

Things are not adding up here billybudge ?
In this link https://www.fiatforum.com/panda/264633-high-mileage-panda.html you state you are a, Quote" a senior Fiat specialist Technician, and also work with Abarth with 30 years experience,"
Your statistic page states ,you are 38 years old .
So you started an apprenticeship aged 8 .
Or am I missing something here.
Hold on , what's that smell , or yes I think its Bull s**t.

I think what you can smell is the clutch burning out in your brain,
DOB used is My sons,
Yes I work for Abarth,
recent years in Italy , now back in UK,
Your knowledge about Fiats is primitive,
and I state the truth,
before that I also worked with Ford RS,
I make normal things go faster,
with respect to your brakes, depending on age, I suggest you change them, they have under gone, temperature and pressure extremes past there design life cycle, they are more likely to fail than wear,
it is old steel and composite your using to stop with,
I hope this has helped you

They're 60bhp new, there's no way my 05 Eleganza has 69! Do you have a graph you could show us? Also what air filter are you using?

You'd have to do some drastic mods on an 8v to get anywhere near 107BHP and that's almost double standard output, so i can't see it either..

It's even more than that. since 60 is at the fly and Budgie is claiming 107 at the wheels. :ROFLMAO:

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence

Can you provide a picture of the rolling road graph, and a photograph of this revolutionary induction kit?
