ignition switch fuse f23 blows sometimes all instuments dont display  have to replace it to start car recently after changing fuse again noticed clicking and no starter working after a few turns of key it starts please can anyone help

The fact it wouldnt start after replaceing the fuse could be the time taken for the immobiliser to re-start.

Sounds like a short somewhere, most things should be linked though the body computer which would show an error on the circuit. If it is only happening in cold weather maybe the fuse supplies the coil on the glow plug relay and that is creating a short.

thanks for the info boughit a code reader from ebay which plugs into laptop i hope this works dearship said that they have only come accross this once when wires to the ecu were rubbing against body and caused a short £88 per hour they wanted i nearly choked to death not sure if it only happens in cold as i have only had car 1 week just my luck.

bought code reader plugs into my laptop stored error fuel pump relay control circuit what on earth is this relay? can anyone help?

Re: panda 1.2 diesel relay

Maybe a short in the coil of that relay.

I cant remember if there are any relays on the bodycontroller, this is an L shaped box near to the throttle pedal. There are definately fuses there.

Some other relays are in the fuse box near the battery, there should be a guide as to what is there on the inside of the fuse box lid.

Re: panda 1.2 diesel relay

done it again today but fuse didnt blow turn ignition key all display lights go off and engine doesnt turn over noticed a clicking noise (solonoid on starter?) would this blow a 20 amp ignition fuse if its faulty? hope someone can help!!!

Check high current wiring connections to Battery (both cables), earth to chassis (follow black cable from battery), same to /from the starter solenoid and also perhaps the engine-to-chassis earth. Sounds like one of those to me.

problem sorted small wire on the starter motor was abit coroded this exites the solonoid i think but cleaned it up and but the washer like conection so it connects more efficiantly ive been runing this car for 3 weeks no problems so far .:)

problem not sorted :bang: ok for 3 weeks then click click click changed the plastic cover and spring clip but still doing it any ideas?

from the starter solenoid or a relay under the dash/engine fuse box?

sounds like relay on the starter ive cleaned all points around starter, could it be the ignition barrel or ecu or starter can i just change the barrel or do i need to change the ecu? sounds like a earth problem ive sanded the contacts, today it clicks after turning the key i turn key several times and it clicks take key out of ignition and it will start it will be ok for a few day then it clicks again.

Firstly, some handy facts.
The starter solenoid is making the click noise. It is a giant relay in effect called a solenoid and sits on top of modern starter motors. It is one of very, very few things that is not computer controlled or "authorised" at all. A wire goes from barrel directly to the solenoid coil. The solenoid switches the very thick red wire straight from the battery to the motor, which is earthed through the engine via gearbox via earth strap to wing.

If you get the click, the barrel is fine. Save the cash. Do you hear the starter motor spinning when the engine does not turn over? This sounds like a whirring noise for as long as you keep the key turned, otherwise there would be silence after the click.
