Was driving to work yesterday in the pouring rain and this light illuminated. Engine note doesn't sound any different but maybe a little less eager to rev ? Have spoken to local dealer in Wincanton and they advise to see if it resets itself or take into them tomorrow. Not much info in handbook so was wondering if anyone else had something similar happen ? Car is a 57 plate 100HP. Thanks in advance for any feedback !

Apparently it has something to do with the lambda sensor ? Dealer reset the fault and lamp extinguished but came back on on my return journey. Car now booked in next Monday for further investigation. Can someone enlighten me as to the role of the lambda sensor - presume it has a role in controlling emissions etc.

Yes, the lambda sensor monitors the exhaust gas emissions and the ECU will adjust the air/fuel ratio to suit.

I had one of the sensors replaced under warranty. Despite the warning message, the car drove exactly as before. The work should be done as if it's not, the catalytic convertor can be damaged.

hi there, my gp 1.3multijet 75 has a warning light telling me to check the engine, I am a bit worried as the car was 3 years old in August and I have only done 16.000 miles from new, what could be the problem? after reading posts here i am still not sure what the problem is

I have found the forum interesting and informative. Has anyone found how to remove the check engine light on the Fiat Panda 1.1 2010 petrol. the problem is the code PO443.

Evap solenoid I beleive will check latter

You can't clear a code while the error is still present, if present, it needs fixing first

I have a 2011 1.2 and sometimes have trouble clearing the codes

The only way I have found is to clear the code, is to pull the scanner out while the ignition is still on. Swith the ignition off and start the car

Never had a problem with my 05 and 06 with the same scanner

PO443 refers to failed / faulty EVAP purge valve, but I have a 1.1 2006, same car and to the best of my knowledge (haven't completely stripped the car to bits yet) don't have an EVAP system fitted, so that one is odd. Did you get this code from a garage or from a OBD2 reader yourself?

link is another source for PO443, while a third suggests that there is an issue with the pressure within the petrol tank and states replacing the petrol filler cap. There is a rare case that can occur - and with the Panda it is difficult due to the design of the petrol tank filler etc., and that is to overfill the tank so much that the charcoal canistor that captures excess fuel vapour can get actual fuel in it. Is there a smell of petrol in the car - if so, check the fuel lines and the charcoal canister etc.

It is surprising that PO443 is the only error code as I would expect a lot more from it.

The check engine light comes on as part of POST, but should go off. If it stays on, it signifies that something has occured to trip it on. You need a OBD2 reader to actually read what the fault is, and depending on the code, address it or reset it - as sometimes, like a serrvice interval etc. can trip a check engine light.

All it means is that the car is lonely / tired of seeing you all the time and wants to see a mechanic instead.

P0443=Gestione vapori emissioni evaporative

Which is a generic code

The ECU has recognised the wrong pressure in the inlet manifold, either too high or too low or not altering as the evap solenoid has opened or closed

All petrol Pandas have a evap system

It's the blue pipe to the right of the throttle body

You are going to have to preform some diagnostics, first check would be to take the airbox off and put your hand over the throttle body, the engine should immediately stop

Hopefully it will just be the evap valve, nice and easy, One spring retainer and a quick connector and electrical connector

If you can read the inlet manifold pressure with a scanner it would be handy to know
