Hello all.
I got a phone call whilst at work today, My better half. "The engine management light is on on the Panda , what should I do?" The panda is three months old.
Eek  So I phoned the dealers, 50 miles away & booked it in for as soon as they could look at it, Thursday next week. Aranged a day off work etc.
An hour later I get a text, " It's gone out!"

Should I take it in anyway or just leave it?

Are you sure it wasn't the yellow 'immobiliser' warning light that came on?

This is a common thing and seems to be nothing to worry about. It does look quite different to the engine management light.

Ooo, Don't know. I've not looked at the book but Helen red out what it said to me & it mentioned reduced performance Etc.
The book calls it the EBDC light or something like that!

Take it in, take it in, take it in! Did I mention, taking it in? Couple of months back I had intermittent EOBD light coming up which would show, go out, come back and then vanish for days. That turned out to be failed injectors. Last weekend same thing, light on and off all day. Booked it in and it was a failed coil pack. The car now drives noticably better. Yours is three months old so well covered by warranty, don't mess about, take it in.

Get it taken in, the code will be stored as Dave said, and get the issue rectified.

As you are under warranty you shouldn't be charged for the diagnostics unlike muggins here (£39+VAT) ho hum

If the coil pack has decided to throw in the towel the overfuelling could (not saying it will) damage the cat convertor.

Let us know what code they find.

I've has a few problems with our panda with a hesitation. They replaced an injector, and a few days leter the engine management light came on. It went off the next day. The car went back in, and they told me there was nothing wrong. Now it needs a new wiring harness to the fuel injection. Defo worth getting it checked

Hello.
I took it up to Slaters today. They put it on the computor & told me the ECU is faulty & it'll need a new one. I'm glad I took it in now. :) [thank you all]
Only problem is they can't get the part for almost 2 weeks :( We can use the car so it's OK. The bloke said he'd had a few cars in with the same thing , also ECU harness failures [this causes loss of power though].
I'll keep you posted. :D

Similar problem. 2007 Panda Dynamic. Light came on peceeded by slightly rough running. Local garage plugged the car into the computer and diagnosed "ignition pack No1". Pack replaced immediately but light came on again next day. Computer once again said "ignition pack No1"! Car now booked into main dealer for Wed 12th Oct (what a pain - 10 miles and two bus rides away so will have to hang around while they look at the car)

It's possibly the wiring. It's basically a fault somewhere in that circuit, not nessecarily the component itself.

You might be really unlucky and it be the coil driver in the ecu, then it's a recon job :(

It's now March and the problem persists. Coil pack changed twice during October. Was in the main dealers a month ago when they diagnosed a loose connection. car ran normally for about three weeks - BUT. Back to the main dealers yesterday and they say they can't find anything wrong! Car ran so roughly on the way there I almost felt sick. Engine management light not on yesterday but did come on last Friday.
