When I reverse my 100hp (especially downhill and whilst steering) I get a really loud grinding/groaning noise from the the rear brakes.

From what I gather, this is a common fault.

However, whilst it's still in warranty, I'd like to get it sorted. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there a soluton?

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

You want to do driving lesson manoeuvres all day and then you'll know what it's like! The sound always reminds me of a whale's call  :D

It always seems worse when the weather is damp and/or the car hasn't been used for a day or two. I did wonder if it was the angle of the pads, i.e. fine for forwards travel but noisy when reversing, at least until the pads have realigned slightly [if that is possible].

However, my car isn't doing it at the moment.

Bummer. Looks like I'll have to put up with it then!

I've got one weak windscreen washer too, but that should be an easy repair for the garage. I'm going to get them to take out the water stains in the seats too. I've heard this is a common issue with most fiats too - for future, will they just shampoo out?

A bit of interior shampoo such as autoglym apparently does the trick, though I've never bothered trying to get water stains out of mine as of yet.

I can confirm tha tyou can easily sort out the water stains by using Autoglym car shampoo. Just skirt a bit of the shampoo on the seats and gently wipe with a damp cloth. don't soak the seats. the stains will come out when the seat dries. The advice came from others on the forum but I confirm it works well when I tried this on my car.

The brakes on my car also make a horid noise when reversing and someone should raise this with Fiat as it is clearly not right and must be a design fault.

The problem is that whilt the car is generally great, Fiat UK is not!!!

Strip and clean your rear brakes, and champher off the edges of the pads, i took mine back to fiat once, they resolved it but it came back again, however i only ever had it on my first set of pads, i'm on my 3rd now and it's never came back..

I found if you do the same with clean water only it works just as well.

Can someone list companies who can supply rear brake drums / discs n pads for the 100HP..?

I'm going to use some "Copper Slip" to see if this can fix the noise.

Buy some of this to fix any squeaking, does both the owner & car: (y)

I will add pictures when I either replace the rear disc/drums/pads or give them a good clean.
