Question 100hp windscreen repair/replacement

Due to state of the roads with so much loose stuff in the air.. My 100HP front screen got a hit top left very close to edge and larger that a two pound coin. So cant be repaired..
Any idea of cost for a replacement.. Have heard horror stories about
AUTOGLASS so if anyone can recommend a clean competent repairer would appreciate. Am south London based but dont mind a drive out for
a happy result..

Re: 100hp windscreen repair/replacement

Can't help you with the cost of replacement I'm afraid but have actually had my 100HP screen repaired a couple of weeks ago with a small chip nearly bang in the middle and Autoglass were faultless when they were doing the job. The only problem I had was that they wanted the excess paying up front but told them not a chance so piad when the job was fininshed.

Re: 100hp windscreen repair/replacement

We've had numerous screens replaced by Autoglass with no problems, so I'm not sure what you're worrying about. I even had the screen on my old TVR Chimaera and the current T350 done, and they are a specialist 1/2 job in their workshop.

I suggest if you're worried then book it into the workshop instead of having a van come to you, then you may get a better chance of a good fitter.

Re: 100hp windscreen repair/replacement

I needed a new windscreen when my car was just 6 months old. Strangely enough, it was smashed by a stone that came off a police car. It cost me about £50 with my insurance company.

I had Autoglass, but even after me telling them to be really careful with my paintwork etc. they still managed to do something really stupid. He stood on my door sills, more than once. I really can't understand why they need to put their feet there. It was covered in foot prints when he finished, but fortunately I can't see any damage. The foot prints were mainly on the rubber parts, but if he picked up one stone in the tread of his shoes (very easy on my driveway) it would have probably gone straight down to the bare metal . I don't know whether there is anybody else more competent out there though. What kind of an idiot puts his feet on the paintwork of a car?
