I have had my 06 plate Panda multijet from 18000 miles, when I bought it (private) the engine sounded noisy on tickover, the first owner said it was because it is all alloy. I have now done 36000 miles, it goes like a rocket and is great on fuel, but still sound like a bag of nails at tickover, is this normal? ![]() It was out of warranty (I think ) when I bought it, so serviced it staight away, I do a full service at 8000 mile intervals. I have no other issus with it. Len.

Ours is not particularly noisy at tickover or any speed, apart from an occasional heavy diesel clatter on acceleration from lowish revs, but one thing you may want to check is the air filter housing. Ours used to vibrate and drum at tickover - it was loose on the mounting spigots - and was one of the initial complaints when the car was new which dealers failed to fix. The extra noise made it sound like an old truck. Fixed it myself with a washer under the mounting spigot.

Mine was horrible, couldn't bear driving with the windows down, so was glad I spec'd aircon. Made an absolute racket on tickover, almost to the point of embarrassment. In summary it's normal. Dismals.
