Santa brought me a couple of Parrot handsfree systems for Christmas. I've plugged all the bits in and it works perfectly, but the stereo's currently hanging an inch out of the dash whilst I think about what to do with the wires.

I'm after suggestions of where to run the cabling to mount the mic and remote. I'm not averse to wielding a screwdriver to get behind the dash, but really don't want to go drilling holes in it.

Has anyone else fitted something like this to a Panda? Where did you run your cables?

I've a Parrot in my Panda...

The microphone wire is run up the side of the passenger window and across the roof to my skydome switch panel. I mounted the answer button on the right hand side of the radio in the space between the radio and the speedo as there's just enough space there and it's not in the way, but still easy enough to see and access...

Would it be possible for you to load any pic's at all please  :)

Just for you Jon... (Good job Dez is now in the garage! Tis a bit baltic outside!)

Microphone...

Parrot unit... If you look through the steering wheel at the bottom, you'll see where the wire comes out between the steering column and the dash.

Cheers mate. I just went for it in the end. Found a convenient-ish gap between some ducts and foam after taking the glovebox out. Have mounted my mic up on the skydome control like yours but stuck the remote thing between the passenger airbag panel and the centre console (I have long arms!).

It works perfectly so far, now I just need to fit the other kit to my Stilo (with the factory fitted amp/sub in the boot  ).

Hello,

Maybee it's obvious for You all, but for me it's a big question:

How do you get the microphone wire up the side of the passenger window and across the roof?

Removal of trim is needed to do the job properly, spend a few quid and buy proper trim removal tools like bojos. Not flat blade screwdrivers unless you like chewed bits of plastic.I put my navi aerial and mic on the drivers side that included removal of the instrument cluster and fusebox cover, a tip is to put tape across the top of the steering cowling to stop it getting scratched as you have to slightly manhandle the cluster out of the dash pod.

Good luck.

The plastic bits up the side of the window snap off. If you have the skydome, the switch panel for it pulls off.

hey guys i know this is an old thread but am just sounding out the parrot D.I.Y option on my 2009 Panda.
is it just plug n play no messing with splicing and dicing and finding live feeds? am quite happy to take trim off and stereo out and plugging ISO connectors in but thats about my limit, looking at buying a cheap second hand and dont want to pay £50+ to have it installed if it is worth having a go at myself, any ideas for mic install? by interior light still best option?

Yes it just plugs into the back of the radio. The only other place I could think of for the mic was at the top of the driver side trim but I thought it would be better to have it central in case of passenger using it...

I should have said that you also can mount the mic on the top of the wee answer unit...

Have a closer look at the pic above and you'll see the wee mount sticking up...

yes mate have seen this on some installs and am thinking for ease this may be an option, but after having a good look inside my panda am struggling to find somewhere to locate one, am thinking between stereo and steering wheel with wires coming out side of stereo or below stereo. just wondering if mic will pick up the same? maybe worth experimenting.
