Hello all!

was wondering if anyone had any experience of panda cutting out over pot holes, speedbumps and the like? So far after several trips to the dealer and even getting taken home by the mechanic no one seems to have found the cause of the fault.

It seems to cut out and left in gear bump starts itself and carrys on fine, and can be fine for a long while.

All this seems to have started after it was leaking water from round the windscreen and the dashboard was taken out to replace the windscreen.

several earths have been reterminated and everybody now seems a bit stumped!

Any help or advice is greatly appriciated!

Alex

p.s this is my dads panda so I might be a bit slow at replying, usually on here scooting about the punto furum :)

Cheers, shall pass on the advice! Its now also going to be looked over by one of Fiats mechanics rather than the dealerships in the new year, so I shall keep you posted

As far as I know these connections have been checked over, and we'll see what the Fiat mechanic being sent up thinks... but its not looking good if its the same situation as Mr T14086 describes...

Cheers once again for the help so far!

our panda has cut out on us on 3 seperate occassions it seems to happen when my partner drives it and only when going over the driveway, which has a sharp incline then drop, the aa reset the switch under the passenger seat and the panda sparked back into life, turns out my partner is just driving way to fast over the drive and is making the car think its had a bump and so is therefore cutting the fuel. Its a 09 1.2 dynamic eco, had it since new wonder if they are a little too sensitve those fuel cut of switches as my 07 grande punto has never done that, instead that just likes to fall to bits! hope ya get it sorted soon cant be nice your car cutting out on you when going over bumps.

The panda has now been traded in against a new model,
sadly the dealership garage and fiat mechanic couldn't trace the problem after following up your suggestions.

We even invested in a fault code reader ourselves with nothing conclusive.

Lets hope the new panda behaves itself.....

Thankyou for all your help and suggestions, and hopfully this thread will help someone in a similar position.

Probably using too high grade petrol. It's a waste of money, doesn't do the engine any good and it's too rich a diet, poor thing probably just had hiccoughs and needed burping.

Yes, thank you very much. Quoting out of context removes the intent of my post. What, no sense of humour then?

I've the same problem on a 1.1 Active "58" reg. Only after rain and it's getting worse. It used to cut out once a week, then twice, then twice a journey and in last night's rain it cut out 7 times. ECM engine light comes on and it bumps starts itself back into operation and away we go.

It's fine in the dry - runs like a dream.

I do use high octane in the car (and in my second Panda 1.1 eco). Both run much smoother on VPower and are peppier.

Can water get into the fire switch from underneath? Or does the 1.1 have an idle control valve (it did cut out at junctions etc originally when I closed the throttle, but now seems more random).

Help please - joined the Forum today, so sorry if this has been solved somewhere else. It really spoils a gem of a car.
