B...ger -have got a Bosch unit with a four year guarantee, which is the one recommended for the Idea, but thanks for the tip which will stand me in good stead if the Panda battery bites the dust.

Bosch, I knew my original spelling looked incorrect.

I think it's not all their battery's that have 5 years, but I know the 'silver' range do (y)

And if you get one of the slightly-bigger-but-still-able-to-fit High Capacity 52Ah jobbies, it'll have more capacity than the car could ever need, ever.

Very sorry to jump in here but how do I set the time on my Panda? It's just flashing at the moment since we took the battery out.

(sorry)

Clock and trip will normally reset when battery is disconnected or when starting the car with a very flat battery.

Had it happen in sisters Active a few times before the new battery (n)

I have a fiat panda 2004. So far 4 times in as many monts my clock has reset itself. And idea why? If it was a flat batter the car wouldn't start right?

When was the battery changed? If it has never been changed, I'd be looking at getting a new one (Bosch quality).

The battery can get low enough to reset the clock but still turn the engine over. I'd be looking to change it before the colder weather comes in as you might find yourself with a non-starter then.

Hi looking for some advice.. ive got a panda 2005 and the clock resets everytime i start the engine and theres no power going to the stereo. Ive changed the battery as ive read that could be the problem for the clock but hasnt fixed it. Could this be a fuse? Im not sure if the fuses are in the right places either could someone help me with this please. Many thanks

If you've tried a new battery, then you should also check the condition of the earthing strap. There have been cases of the wire having rotted inside the plastic covering.

Its not a fuse. A blown fuse would fail all the time

When the car is cranking over its dropping the voltage below what the instruments need.

Battery too weak or wrong part fitted.

Alternator not charging properly. Auxiliary belt slipping.

Faulty starter or sized engine. (unlikely as the car runs fine once started)

High resistance in a cable and/or connector.

corrosion on the battery terminals is quite common as the auxiliary belt slipping on the none aircon models.

Most likely.
Slipping auxiliary belt
Fail on fit battery
Voltage drop due to corroded terminal.

Hi, and welcome,:)

if you are reasonably happy the charging circuit is ok,

then use a BLACK jump-lead to connect directly from battery NEG terminal to the engine,
then start engine..this will aid the earthing circuit.. if it's improved things the main earth cable is NOT passing sufficient current.

Weak battery starts engine, driver steers full lock to exit parking space or side street, battery voltage collapses and everything switches off.

Get the battery tested.

Dashboard dies when powered off, stereo has no power, it's the body computer fuse (fuse 47 or 49, check the manual). Had this happen to mine, it went while I was fitting an aftermarket stereo. Telling sign is that when you take the key out, the dials all freeze instead of returning to their lowest position.
