New (New) Panda?

I was in a Polish shop in Wolverhampton today and noticed on the front of the Polish published Motor magazine an article about a NEW Panda.

Had a quick look in the magazine, images show a car a bit like existing Panda crossed with a Fiat 500.

I did not sugest to my wife that i wanted to buy the magazine, as we have a Panda Elegansia Dualogic on order and It is due to arrive at the delear next week. So my wife would not understand why i would whant to find out about another Panda.

Does anyone know is a NEW NEW Panda in the pipeline?

Re: New (New) Panda?

Models tend to go about 7 years a time, so wouldn't be long now before a new one is brought out. Then again might do a classic Panda, and restyle it slightly and then build it for a further 17 years

Re: New (New) Panda?

The 'Third Generation' Panda has long been pencilled-in for 2010, but I've never found any renderings that appear to be genuine FIAT leaks; most seem to design studies by magazines! And similarly there don't appear to have been any genuine contenders for development mules caught outside the factory as yet.

Next year should be exciting for small FIATs, with a new Panda, the 500 Giardinera (which will share the new Panda's longer wheelbase) and the new Topolino. Plus there’ll be the replacement for the Palio that might be available in Europe, but looks unlikely to make it to the UK.

That's before we get onto the new Multiair two cylinders engines that are expected...

I hate this "bubblecar" styling, it looks like the sort of thing I used to do as a kid with a drinking straw and a frog from the garden pond... puffffffffffffffffffff !!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully FIAT will steer clear of the heritage card and give the Panda a contemporary look. Seems by adopting a longer wheelbase they are continuing to go for practicality so fingers crossed the 500's styling 'halo effect' doesn't prove too tempting for them (that's not to knock the 500 at all, just it's a different product aimed at a different market).

Re: New (New) Panda?

Thats the whole attraction for me with the panda, the practicality. I like the little SUV look about it, If I had the money, I would have gone for that panda offroader with the big plastic bumpers. Now the limited Monster, is a very nice looking car IMHO.

The 500 is really nice looking but its aimed at the iPod set, all style and no real substance.
