Im having trouble getting a roof box to fit my Panda. My car has the Fiat Roof Bars fitted rather than the roof rails. Fiat dont do a roof box or roof rack to fit. Halfords largest box just fits but it is enourmous. Any suggestions

you need roof rails that go across your roof first (they fit to the rails)

then take your pick on what box you want,

there are MANY different sizes and capacity's and can be had cheaper than Halfrauds...

Remember not to overload the rails the rails Max load take into account the weight of the roof cross bars and box.....

you can pick bars up from a few suppliers

I got some Older paddy hopkirk bars for my dads focus estate (with rails) for £30 from the motor factors they were a universal fit and fixed with an alan key

I had the same problem, as ours has roof bars which I fitted to make use of a sturdy roof rack we already had.
I ended up buying two lengths of steel box section from B&Q and bolting them to the roof bars to provide longitudinal bars. (Measured the spacing first though to make sure it fit our roof rack :) ) Cost about a tenner.

p.s I only fit the bars and rack when actually needed for holidays - it makes an awful row with windnoise!

I've got the roof rails...

I fit some Thule roof bars to them and put my foldable Thule Ranger box on. Then when I reach my destination, take everything off, fold up the box and store it (usually in the B&B / Hotel bathroom Lol) till I'm going home. :D

I have the roof bars you mention, i bought a Karrite roof box and drilled 2 new holes in the base of the box. I have covered the original holes with aluminium foil tape.
I have used it on numerous occassions and it is totally safe.

They go silly cheap on ebay sometimes, but you will need to collect.
