car drives fine, gear change great, just that the clutch bite is near the floor. how do you adjust ??? cheers

Bite point near the floor suggests abnormally long pedal travel before the clutch disengages which does not sound particularly good.
The clutch is hydraulically operated and as such is self-adjusting. The only simple suggestion to improve this situation is to renew the hydraulic fluid and hence bleed out any air or impurities in the system. This may improve matters but if there is a fault in either the clutch master or slave cylinder allowing in air then the problem will recur.
Other possibilities include a bent clutch fork or other damage to the clutch mechanism itself.
I would suggest that you ask a reliable mechanic to drive the car and give his opinion as to whether there is a fault. If he feels there is then finding the cause is not too difficult.
If a fault is found, feedback to this forum is always welcome as we all like to know what goes wrong with Pandas for future reference.

thanks for advice. clutch res empty !! topped up. no obvious signs of leaks. did not realise it was hydraulic. where is the bleed nipple. i cant find it !

slave cylinder is shagged. tried to bleed and ended up with no clutch. £58 ! made of plastic. not like the old days.

I haven't seen anyone post on this forum regarding a failed clutch slave cylinder.
How old and how many miles has your Panda done? Is the slave cylinder in a position where it is vulnerable to damage or dirt?
I note that Fiat specify a change of brake fluid every 2 years. I'm thinking I might change the clutch fluid on my 4x4 now it's 3 years old and has done 30,000 miles, as a preventative measure.

it is a 54 plat 20,000 miles. Slave is on top of gearbox secured by 2 x12mm bolts. fluid pipe clips on. however it is under battery tray and ECU. Bitch to get hands in... hence cuts on arm. Bleed nipple is on top and again hard to get at. Filled with fluid and bleed , no pressure, pedal loose. There are fluid marks on box . Prob long term slow leak. New part will be at Fiat tuesday. They claim not to have supplied many so they dont stock.

Re: panda 1.1 active clutch slave cylinder replacement

Maybe be easier to leave battery tray, wiring and ECU in. I can just get my hand down between, getting new part today. to add insult to injury my '74 VW Camper broke down on the way to knebworth Sunday !

fixed ! fitted new slave cylinder in 10 mins . much easier with cold engine. left battery try in place.new piston also tied shut. once fitted you cut tag to release. went to bleed and no pressure in pedal. pedal on floor. bugger. thought it was master that had failed. but master was clean and dry. (also £80 to replace)tried easy bleed. no joy. took off pipe on master cylinder and pumped . no pressure. no fluid coming out. uhhh. took off master cylinder and took to bits. cleaned it,looked ok so put back together. there was good air pressure so refitted to car. before reattching pipe we bled all the air out first so we had fluid squirting out. fitted pipe and pumped master by hand until some air bled and to stiff to pump by hand. then re attached clutch pedal to bled again. works a treat. nice high bit point. we think so much fluid had drained air was trapped in master cylinder. an hours work.
