after just 12k miles, the pads that were put on in mar 07, have gone down to a very low level, the mrs told me about some squealing from the front of the car on teh way home up the motorway last night, made sure there were no little piggies caught under the bumper, and sure as eggs is eggs, there was a high pitched squeak....

£27 later, pads from interparts in hounslow....and peace is restored to the front of the panda

does seem odd that the first set lasted 22k miles, the second only 12k miles.....

Could be the quality of the second set if they were cheaper, but I wouldn't have thought it would make that much of a difference.

Jon.

both were fiat oem........so yeah probably a quality issue:p

£27 for 1 set of pads  my green stuff was only 38. i paid 13 quid for a set for the yellow sporting earlier in the week

after having the mrs destroy a set of discs last time, i wasnt about to start dicking around with looking for the last nth of a penny/pound off, then waiting for them to arrive, another set of oem pads, and stick them in before she toasts another set of discs, stitch in time and all that

Yes I think that there is a variable quality issue with the brake pads. My first set only lasted 12k miles, but there's still loads of life left in the second set after 15K miles.

Greenstuff are crap..the best pad I have used to date are the red dot ones which work out about the same price as jai's cheapo ones..Just had my 24K service at fiat and they told me my front pads are 30% worn so it will be some time before I get around to fitting the red dot ones I have in my workshop..

Not a fan of Greenstuff either :( Did run redstuff on the Mondeo which were much better, although, they do seem to crumble if you use them in anger too often.

Will have to see what's available for the Panda when it's time to change them! :D

when? green stuff have been up dated 4 times since they came out, red stuff are ceramic, for cars 200BHP and more wtf you putting them on a mondeo:confused:

Had greenstuff on my stilo and found they needed to be warmed up before they would workand even when they were warm/hot they didnt out perform the red dot..oldschool gave me a set of RED DOT pads and said if they werent an instant improvement I didnt have to pay for them..there was no comparison on the stopping power of the green stuff and the red dot were far better and worked from cold..

You'd think that if EBC didn't think they were suitable they wouldn't bother manufacturing them for a car?

Last time I tried Greenstuffs (the V3) was on my Scooby and they were responsible for depositing bits of pad on the disc and causing the "unwarpable" Godspeed discs to warp. Replaced with Ferodo DS2500 which were much better pads, but cost a lot more. I guess you get what you pay for and I couldn't afford to waste money on seeing if a new compound had improved.

If you look at the specs the Greenstuff have no bite until they get warmed up and are designed for fast road use only. The Redstuff V3 are great from cold and are suitable for fast road and light track work which was what I needed. Shame that during heavy track work they disintegrate.

diferent cars have same calipers so a 200+ bhp car may have the same calipers you had on your mondane

Greenstuff are the ultimate performance/fast street brake pads you can get for your hot hatch or sport compact. These pads have a high friction coefficient, great initial bite from cold, right up to a blistering 650 degrees centigrade.

Like .... erm ... the Mondeo ST220 ... oh hang on that has more than 200bhp?

Yep the marketing spiel is correct - they are the ultimate pads :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

At the end of the day having used both greenstuff and red dot I would never use the EBC pads ever again..green stuff simply put didnt live up to expectations recomended by the company..I supplied loads of the greenstuff to many members on here cheaper than they could get them anywhere on line and after talking to my supplier and hearing him say that the greenstuff are a total disapointment I stopped supplying them..end of ..

Actually IME Greenstuff really are not very good when cold and don't bite that well at all. I use redstuff on the back of the Integra, but lets face it they don't do that much braking anywhere compared with the fronts, which are some american make due to the oversized discs.

Personally I think greenstuff are over-rated. Red stuff are better. Used to really like Pagid fast road pads, but don't think you can get them anymore.
