My clutch pedal appears to be sticking to the floor.

This esspecially seems to happen in low gears, or from going a high to low gear!

It's pretty scary, It takes a couple attempts of banging my foot on it for it to come back up.

Does anyone know what the problem is, and a rough estimate of how much it could cost to fix!?

Clutch pedal sticking in the down position? May be the clutch master cylinder you can bleeded the system check you have good clean fluid up to the level in the master cylinder.

...or, less expensive... Do you have mats in the footwell? I have had this happen to me a couple of times and its simply been that the end of the pedal has slipped under the (official Fiat, no less) floor mat and been held down. I can release the pedal by dragging the mat back with my heel. The mat should have come with a little clip to secure it in place but didn't. Moving the mat is cheaper than the master cylinder :)

:yeahthat: The wife's Eleganza does it now and again (official mats too!)

The mat though has a hole in it that clips in, so it never moves around.

That's if you cut the hole in the carpet for the fixing screw thing....We didn't want a hole in the carpet so didn't bother....

I have had same problem when i first got my Sporting fiat had it to check could not find anything they said it might be the carpet overmats ? told them do I look stupid:rolleyes: guess what next time it happened i pulled car over and the bl++dy mat was stuck under cluth pedal we live and learn.

The dealer fitted my mats so had no idea they made a hole in the carpet in order to fit the securing thing. Is just on the driver's side though.

Can't say i'm worried about that as such, though it seems to work as the mat never moves.

I was going to say mats too. I didn't want to cut a hole in the carpet, so I need to re-position it every now and then to stop the clutch pedal catching.

Wife gets in the Panda this morning, comes running in the house telling me the clutch is stuck on the floor. I went out and guess what?

Yes the mats .
