Hi everyone,
I have just ordered a new Panda!
Multijet 1.3 Dynamic
Samba Orange
Skydome
ESP
Side & Window Airbags
50/50 split rear seats.
All for £7650 on the road! (inc £49 fee)

Having scoured the internet for a good deal I came across uknewcars .com Their prices are very good and they discount all your extras unlike fiatsupasaver. You can see exactly how much your vehicle will cost on line. They added on a £49 fee charge which I think is very reasonable. They seem to be very efficient & friendly as well. The only downside is that this is a pre-Reg vehicle, even though it's a factory order (That doesn't bother me because I plan to keep the vehicle for a good many years) and it has to be collected from Lincoln. Again, that's OK for me because I've got friends there!
Just thought some of you might find that useful. I've saved £2840 when my nearest dealer would only give me the metallic paint free of charge!
I hope the next 12 weeks fly by!

That is a good price including all the options.

I do rate FSS quite highly so far though. I ordered my 100HP through them - factory order, will be 08 plate with the speaker upgrade for £8545 which I thought was a decent price. Only have to collect from Swindon area, so only about 50 miles from me.

www.drivethedeal.com had them at a decent price too. In fact I think they were cheaper and again they discount the options.

Layney :)

Sounds a good deal for sure. (y)

Must admit though i'm not sure ESP is worthwhile on an MJ. I can barely get my MJ to oversteer no matter how hard i try. All it does is understeer or if I am brutal it merely 'threatens' to oversteer.

Really think it needs an uprated rear anti-roll bar, would help turn-in no end.

ESP is the best safety feature on a car. If you had to do an avoidance procedure without ESP there is a good chance you will spin out or run wide. ESP also allows you to drive on the snow without losing control. If you want to truly appreciate the advantages of ESP and Traction control go on to youtube.com and look up 5th gear ESP. It's amazing!

I have been looking for someone who has ordered ESP and the curtain airbags as my dealer said they're rarely specified. I get my Panda in a few weeks. It's a 1.2 Eleganza with ESP, 6 airbags, parking sensors, subwoofer and 6 speakers and the stereo controls. My car should have cost 10480 quid and i'm paying 6900 for it and my car is brand new. :slayer:

I am also thinking of getting my new Panda from UKnewcars.com.
How is your deal coming along ?
I am slightly concerned that the dealer will keep the V5 document for 6 months, are you happy with this ?

Cheers :)

It is against the law for the dealer to keep the V5C document. If you got pulled over by the Police and were asked to provide your documents you would be reported for not having the V5C - insurers don't like you driving around in a car that isn't classed as yours and they could void your insurance if you had an accident.

Whatcar did an article on this in this months magazine if you wanna check it out.
They say you should insist on having the V5C immediately. The dealer can be fined for keeping it.

I wonder how they are getting away with it then.
They must have sold shed loads of them especially as the discount is so good.

I did read the article and that's why I am a bit wary.

Some insurers will insure you if you are not the registered keeper, but are the owner. You must tell them.
Proof of ownership is your sales invoice from the dealer and not the V5.
I did insurance quotes as the owner and not as the owner. It was certainly dearer if you were not the owner.
I am still very very tempted

It's not illegal as the dealer is the registered keeper of the vehicle while you are the owner. The two are not necessarily the same thing :) A similar situation would be if you bought a car but registered it in your wife's name. The reason they keep the V5 for 6 months is because some manufacturers have clauses to stop dealers bumping up their sales figures by pre-reg'ing a load of cars and then selling them on straight away. They usually do this by saying any car cannot be sold within x months (typically 3-6 months) and having the dealer retain the V5 and remaining the registered keeper for that time gets round that.

I'd personally not be happy with that arrangement as when I buy a car I want all the paper work transferred then and there, but lots of people seem to be doing it and it does save a few quid.

What??? sorry, but I assume the purchaser wishes to take possession of the car! At that point they are legally the registered keeper.

If anyone purchases a car like this they should apply to the DVLA after 6 weeks of ownership and apply for the log book in their name. I would include a copy of the sales invoice with the letter to help the DVLA.

What is your build date? and I assume that you are collecting the car from Lincoln. Have you tried amending your list of extras? I've just been told I'm too late to do so.

My order was placed on the 23rd February and confirmed by UKNewCars on that date but the dealer did not pass it to FIAT until 3rd March.

I have actually been speaking to the dealer over the last few days. I did amend my original order on 19th Feb by adding Air Con but I think the dealer has been very slow ordering -I asked yesterday about a build date and he said it was too early to let me have one but they were probably looking at the end of May which still is ages away! Have you been given one yet or is he talking rubbish? My hubbie has been speaking to them today so maybe he has more info and will update me when he gets home.
I know UKNew Cars are not thrilled with the dealers but UKNewCars themselves have been very helpful indeed. They really work hard for their cash and I would recommend them!
With regard to the pre-reg confusion - I have a friend who is unbelievably cautious about everything and she had a pre-reg Fiat with no problems. (She's a magistrate as well! )So, I thought if she felt it was OK why should I, who am easy going, worry about it? Life's too short!
What colour did you go for?
Yes I am collecting it from Lincoln which is a trek for me but I've got friends who live there.

Like yourself we've been chasing the dealer and also like yourself we get the impression that UKN-C are not impressed with the service given by the dealers. It appears that the orders placed thru' UKN-C are handled by the fleet purchases department. I can see one off orders being 'lost' perhaps waiting for a time when they have sufficient to justify a fleet discount. It could also explain any difficulty getting extras added after the order has been placed.

If you are being told delivery at the end of May won't that mean a 16 week wait? We have also been told May. So again that points to the orders being bundled before being forwarded to FIAT.

We are also satisfied with UKN-C, at this point we would likely use them again if and when the need arises. They certainly do seem to care. I've sent them a copy of the extras we lately requested and await their comments.

Pre reg doesn't bother me too much but I do wonder what the situation would be if the the Lincoln people became insolvent with our vehicle still on their list of assets. A receipt might not be enough to convince a liquidator that we have the right of ownership.

We booked the Pasadoble Red, with Air Con and SkyDome, Bluetooth, ESP and Sliding Folding Rear Seats. Not unlike your own spec.

Very much looking forward to getting it. Lincoln is about 400 miles away but rail fare, providing there is an advance booking, is about £52 for the two of us, plus accomodation. So we will be quids in considering the discount we will be getting and the trip will be a pleasant break.

Then in that case they need to make sure the dealer is able to make that arrangement. As I said, it's a way of knocking the price on cars and shifting them quick - you get what you pay for, as they say.

If the supplying dealer goes under while they are still the registered keeper it should make no odds to your car as you are the *owner* and have an invoice to prove it.

It's not the dealership keeping it, it's the fleet company the car is originally registered to.

Whoever they are they will have a fleet deal with Fiat that is conditional on them keeping the cars they buy for a minimum of six months. This is supposed to stop them buying cars at massive discounts and then selling them on immediately to make a profit, a condition which obviously the company supplying uknewcars.com is flouting.

If Fiat find out they are doing it they will stop supplying them cars, which in turn will mean uknewcars.com will no longer be able to sell "new" Fiats at big discounts.
