I have just bought an Alarm (Part No. 46002793) from eBay for my Panda. It's a genuine FIAT item designed to fit using the original remotes. Does anyone have a picture of where the siren sits in the engine bay?? so that when I install it I can put it in it's correct position, the fitting instructions are a bit vague to say the least as they are written for the dealers I think.

I will do a step by step installation when I fit this with photos and post it on here so that you all have it to refer to for future reference. (y)

Thanks for you help.

There's not much space for you to put anything under the bonnet... My siren is fitted towards the front (although it's not a Fiat one).

Best of luck with the fitting... There's been a few on here who have found that it wasn't as easy to install as suggested and very time-consuming. Start early on a day when you have nothing else planned...

:) I had the same alarm fitted on my 55 plate eleganza...siren on top of front grill just in front of the battery. best of luck, unless you have fitted one before I wouldnt try. my fart dealer fitted it for £67.00. (y)

Shouldn't be too hard as I am a skilled Auto Electrician by trade (y) Just wasn't sure where the original position for the siren is.

Wee Smurf - Looking at it, your right and it's gonna take me all day to do properly, some interior will have to get stripped down I think.

The position for mounting shown in the instructions isn't there on current Pandas and unfortunately this is true of a lot of the instructions.

It's not difficult to work out where most bits are with a bit of common sense and patience though.

I found the perfect place for the alarm was at the back of the engine directly above the brake master cylinder. There's a bracket mounted vertically above that area with threaded studs sticking out of it and the alarm mounts perfectly on their facing forwards.

You'll also find the bonnet catch is a completely different design to the one you've got but the switch fits and works fine mounted top left in the handy holes you'll find there.

Has anybody found an alarm to have a useful purpose, other than waking you up at 4am when it gets a bit windy, for the fourth time that week? I suppose it's a way to get to know the neighbours....

That wasn't my alarm, by the way, I've never had a car with an alarm, and I never intend to. That was the alarm on my Dad's Volvo V70, and a couple of years later, the alarm on my neighbour's Citroen C8. Then there's the alarms that go off in car parks, which everybody ignores, apart from cursing under their breath.

Noise pollution and sleep deprivation are one of the leading causes of stress, and have been proven to shorten your life. If you're really worried about theft, don't get an alarm, get a wheel clamp.

:) Never had any problems with my Fiat alarm fitted to my eleganza, fitted by dealer, set with the central locking.
Even with the high winds in Blackpool never went off, you know it,s bad when the street lights start swaying in t breeze.
Depends how well it is set up. (y)

rbrian, I know what you mean...

As I said above, I have a non-Fiat alarm / immobiliser installed. My bloody alarm false alarms all the time... It just doesn't seem that compatible with the onboard computer... The fella who installed it had great difficulty with it and is still seeking a solution for it.

Anyone have a wiring diagram for the doors?

Remember the body computer doesn't power down instantly upon ignition off, does the alarm go off straight away or after a few hours.

Never straight away. Usually after a few hours.

It could sit there happily for a day or two and then suddenly the alarm goes off for no reason...

Oh and it also goes off about half an hour after I switch the ignition off if I leave the lights switched on accidentally (Yes the lights do switch off with the ignition)... Good job everyone knows my car in work. I get messages sent to me that Dez is crying in the car-park (again)...

Any ideas for my alarm? Parked up around 3pm yesterday, bloody thing went off at 9am this morning... It usually says it's the doors...

Hi all,

First of all, this is my first post so I hope you are OK on here with bumping old threads - if its relevant.

I chopped in my LR Defender for an 07 Panda 4x4 last year and have never looked back - wow what a car!

So, back to this genuine alarm kit, blimey what a work of fiction that manual is! I laughed at the post about the handy holes for the bonnet switch - before I read it I'd already gone straight for the said holes on mine, then read the manual, panicked, took it all apart, realised the manual was totally wrong, read this thread and had to do it all again the same as what I'd thought was right in the first place! Oh well.

I mounted the siren on a 13mm stud earthing point just below the battery, seems to work really well and keeps the siren pointing the right way. Maybe I'll upload some pictures when its all done?

Also, in my Panda I've had to drill out huge rivets just to access the body control box that was covered with a metal shield - I'll replace them with bolts. Other than that the wires seem to be in the same places / plug shells. The shield actually made a really nice mount for the alarm ECU!

Where its all falling down (and the manual is really telling porkies!) is the alleged 20 way connector on the steering column that the blue wire from the alarm (pulsed hazard switch remote control?) goes to. I can't find it or anything like it. I don't suppose early pandas had the hazard switch there and I now need to be looking to the hazard switch pack itself now do I?

If anyone that has already done it (one poster had the same age Panda as me and seems to be OK?) can help that would be great.

thanks in advance!

Stu.

Looking like I'm in exactly the same boat. Its actually for the CODE system feed I believe. Fitted said alarm for dads 2009 Eleganza dualogic, all good until the very last step of connecting the dark blue wire from the Alarm control unit.

Did you manage to sort this in the end, or has anyone else? Its the only thing stopping completion of this install for me and seems to be required for the alarm to function.

The Hazard switch feed for ref is one of the wires going into the body computer Stu.

Looks like the answer might be here though https://www.fiatforum.com/panda/127909-alarm-m792-m892-fitting-problems-help.html :)

I've been waiting until now to finish the job off...

Of course, I did get it totally wrong, this wire is NOTHING to do with the 4 ways, it is of course 'something else' and ultimately its just a way of sending a signal over an existing wire to avoid drilling the bulkhead (which I nearly did, ironically, to sort this problem out!)

Well done for digging up that old post, it seems to be exactly the solution we are both after. I will report back as soon as we get some better weather to finish it off...
