I've just joined the forum and I'm hoping there maybe someone out there who can give me some advice on oil. I have a 04 Panda 1.2 Eleganza, i bought it in Jan with only 8K on the clock. It now has 12K and I'm about to service it.

Do I have to use Selenia, or can I use any (decent) semi-synthetic? I was told by a mechanic that all fiats/alfas are designed to only use Selenia, is this true?

Not really. It depends on your local distributor. Example, in Malaysia we follow that but just 300Km's down south, Singapore, they don't bother! Heck, you can't even FIND Selenia!!! And they sell more fiats that us! Surprising huh?

You'll find here in the forum, UK, different ppl use different oils. I'll let the other forumers explain...

i have the same car as you panda04, and so far only selenia has gone in on the top ups, it's easy enough to get hold of over here and seems about the same price as other equivilent brands

Not even the dealers here in the North East use Selenia.
Just use a decent 10W40 semi synth.
