Hiya

Thanks

Hmm that may well be the case! lol no its just a damn heavy freeride bike and the wife's bike. so any suggestion's..... either that or im gonna hevto invest in the roof rack option, but i dont fancy my chances of lifting that above my head to much especially after a huck about... ill be tired as hell:eek:

Dont buy a cheap unknown make, they are useless and damned dangerous, i nearly lost two bikes on the M20 a few years ago, i threw it straight in the skip when i got back, (just to make sure it couldn't be re-used).
I bought a replacement from Halfords for about £70, and it has been great for the last 10 years, i've ued it on a whole number of different cars, and it fits the Panda brilliantly.
P.S. I wouldn't want to be riding one your bikes at 57kg:) .

So from what you're saying it looks like you're after a rack that hangs off the back. Wimp :D

I have a Thule rack, with two decent Thule bike carrier thingumys. It works well - had it on my A6 and we now use it on our Golf (strangely needed wider bars than the A6 - there was much head scratching when it wouldn't fit!). I checked the Thule 'directory' and there is an option for our Panda with or without roof rails.

If you're going to be carrying often I'd say get the roof bars - they will prevent the slight whistling you get by fitting the rack around the door apertures.

I normally carry 2 or 3 bikes on the roof of the Panda and sometimes I carry 4 bikes, and it's ok, no problem, except maybe for the lateral wind. I use some Thule and Atera bike carriers and Mont Blanc roof bars.
Placing the bikes on the back of the cars will get them dirty, will change the balance of the car and, most important, are vulnerable to rear hits in accidents (for example when you push the brake too hard and the one in the car behind is not fast enaugh). Sometimes the value of the bikes that I carry is bigger then the one of the car.

Ok guys thanks for the info, and just to clarify i have now weighed the rigs and there combined weight is 43kg ( and yes they are very heavy but great fun! )

And did people say they have fitted or had fitted roof bars to there 100hp ?
