Does anyone know if any companies are offering forms of tuning for the 100HP or is it too soon yet for them to have come up with anything?

Would be rather nice for it to have a bit more go :slayer:

Not bored.
Just wonder how much companies can up it.
I mean its fast as it is but with even more go it would be insane.

are they doing a panda abarth?

i'm waiting for the first person to fit the 1.4 turbo that will be in punto abarth and new bravo, the sport pack on punto abarth is claimed to get 185bhp from the 1.4 turbo, that should be enough in a panda,

Fiat have not officially mentioned a Panda Abarth and much of what is said on the net is speculation!

As for 2008 Fiat has said there will be a Panda update of some form which may or may not include an Abarth, I am thinking more of a facelift to be honest....

As for tuning, there are many things that can be done...

1. GSR Induction kit £177.00 which offers 2-14BHP // 21Nm(15 Lb/ft) Torque through rev range.
2. GSR Remap & Induction kit £359.00 which offers 18.7BHP // 26Nm(19 Lb/ft) Torque through rev range.
3. Like any car head work can be done....
4. Stainless Steel manifold will free up alot of power as the current one robs you of precious power!! :D
5. Re-profiled cams to offer more torque or BHP....

Remember this is only the 1.4 16v FIRE engine which has been on the GP 1.4 Sporting for some time now and also the Stilo 1.4 16v most mods can just be purchased from those cars!

Cheers

that article makes mention of alfa production being taken on by chery in china - thats going to go down a storm....

and says does not want to dilute the abarth brand with a panda? well, i think considering the sticky badge "engineering" of the last few years, the damage is already done

No Abarth version then. Hey ho......guess it means I only have to look out for challenges from the modded HP's now.;)

:) I have my GSR kit arriving today hopefully!! Designed by the great Oldschool (Peter) at GSR and a remap sometime this year so will be pushing a nice 120 BHP // 118 Lb/Ft over the standard 99 BHP // 97 Lb/ft so should really feel the difference as its about 20% increase overall... Obviously all cars are different and the fact I only use V-Power with the Shell V-Power club card (y) runs very nice!

I am glad to be honest that there will be no Abarth as the 100HP will always be the flagship and saves me worrying about having to get a Panda Abarth!!

Do you know how the tuning will affect the Sport button?
Like will it still have the "wow, that really kicks over the standard mode" effect that it does now or will performance be the smae weather on or off?

The WoW effect that is felt with the Sport button enabled is simply a more aggressive map that is used by the ECU when the Fly-by wire throttle is pressed. When doing any modification such as induction kit the ECU self learns to some degree and after about 300 miles the car will be running at best with the new modifications....

Although sometimes when certain mods such as enlarged throttle bodies and other such serious modifications a re-map is needed so that the ECU can reconised the new engine modifications and have the correct fueling (basically fine tuning).
The Sport mode and non-sport mode will be how they where just each mode having that increased power/torque at some point through the rev range. Obviously the Sport mode will feel alot quicker than the non-sport mode due to the engine map :D

Hope this helps

Cheers

I asked GSR for more info on cars where they'd officially tested the gains (i.e. before/after rolling road etc.). Got no reply.

2-14hp - unless I hear otherwise this is more likely nearer 2hp and a few torques and you need to tell your insurance company and pay for a modded car (unless you are lucky to have an understaing ins company).

Personally I'm dubious about this kind of thing without seeing confirmed results.

All the other mods are going to cost a fair bit.

The GSR has confirmed results and anyone on this forum who knows Oldschool (Peter) will confirm that the GSR kits do what they say and are built to such an excellent standard!

The kit is not a bolt on TB kit it has a long silicone pipe which doesnt cause any form of air resistance and due to the length of the pipe increases torque substancially!

www.gsr-uk.co.uk is the site for this work!

This is not a bitching post but damn it needs to be said to keep me sain!!
I have tuned a Seicento Abarth x2 and a Cinquecento Sporting and the people who enjoy those cars over in the Cinq/Sei section enjoy to hear about the modifications and such and are willing to help whenever they can...

The impression I get from the Panda section so far is boring people who seem to have too much negatives about tuning... Face it guys such as "Trefor" people will always strive to get more and more out of their cars whether it be a Panda or a Ferrari, your insurance comment simply shows that you are simply boring... Sorry but facts are facts... And yes the kit will be fully declared such as every single mod was on my Seicento Abarth!

The Panda 100HP has potential to become an even better car and anyone thinking of any extreme modifications... Do it, don’t let the people who read the "Observer newspaper or Architect monthly" put you off!

Cheers

Oh great another professional magazine for me to read and leave in my reception - where can I get hold of a copy?;) Saw a really interesting reviw of it in the Observer the other week. Now.....where did I put my slippers?...........

He's right.....do as you like.

The people who are buying centos are buying older, cheaper cars. If they want to make them faster, they can do that on a small budget. If you look at the numbers who are turbocharging centos, it's a small percentage.
I would guess that most people buying Pandas are buying (relative to a cento) more expensive cars. If they want a faster car they could buy an older car (like a cento) and have money left over to tune it. I'd imagine that most (not all) people who can afford a new Panda and have money left over to tune it might just buy a faster car in the first place.
That's not to say tuning a Panda is wrong in any way. Just that it's newer, less tested, and a smaller percentage of owners probably want to do it.

Yes I am boring, no I'm not tuning my Panda - I'd rather have a new house instead :)

(Note that this post is not in any way intended to offend Cinquecento owners. I applaud anyone who can get away with driving a car that looks like a shoe :p)
