Panda Cigar Lighter

I have just acquired a Panda 1.1 Active and it came without the smokers pack. Now this is a little inconvenient as I have nowhere to plug my Tom tom, phone charger and a multitude of other gadgetry! Simple I thought, I will go but a socket and facia trim from Fiat and plug it in to the connector that exists below the 'oddment tray' How wrong I was! No power The light comes on when I turn the lights on but I get nothing in the way of a 12V source I checked the wiring and confirmed the connector is dead, traced back to the fuse box and it seems that the fuse (44) only has a 12V source (connected to an ignition related relay) but no 'output' and no fuse. Now does anyone have any suggestions before I get the heavy gauge wire out and start running a separate feed?

Already done battle with the lack of remote central locking and only half won as the drivers door doesn't have a motor in it Did Fiat really have to skimp on a few quid?!! Mind you I cant complain, the car came to me FOC with only 114 miles on the clock!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Panda Cigar Lighter

Why did you buy the 1.1 in the first place? It's rubbish...

Obviously you have to find a permanent 12V source from the fuse box and draw a cable to power your GPS. OR you could try the permanent line from the radio(radios have two sources, battery and ACC). Why don't you ask from the dealer's electrician to do that for you?

Spoke to the dealer and they confirmed they would not do the work as it was not cost effective. I have now done it myself and you wouldn't even know I had been there

Thanks for all the help and support though

Re: Panda Cigar Lighter

Wow cant beleive you didnt get better replys than that, it has been covered in other forums, ie where to get 12v sources from how to wire it up etc.

ie glovebox light is a permanant 12v source (well in the Bravo range anyway), interior lights etc too, i guess you dont have electric windows or mirrors as they are 12v sources only on with the ignition.

Well glad you got it sorted out anyhow. Where did you steal your 12v from in the end? Is it a perm feed or an ignition switched feed?

I took it from the main fuse box under the bonnet. Put an in line fuse on the main power stud, and then unpicked all of the tape round the plastic loom wrap ran the wire inside with the original loom, removed the black trim from under the wipers and followed the main loom through the bulkhead and down under the carpet to the lighter socket. While I was at it I took the opportunity to run another 12v source which will be switched next to the lighter socket back to the engine bay...........this may or may not be used to activate some solenoids that may or may not mean that my 1.1 active is slightly less rubbish than Mr puntofato first exclaimed

Just as well he owns a panda MJ then

http://www.fiatforum.com/newbie-cent...ml#post1044658

But just think what you can add to your active, loads! And will cost you alot less than if it was an original option, as long as you're prepared to put the time etc into it.

As soon as I'd posted that, I thought, "what if he doesn't own a Punto?". Then I couldn't be bothered checking!
Punto owners are still jealous though
More importantly, think what it'll cost you to run a 1.1 Active! Almost nothing!
