Thumbs down My Panda rattles

I drive a 2005 Panda Dynamic and it seems to have developed many rattles - especially from the dashboard area. It sounds like it's coming from the cd player/centre of dash. There are also strange "clunking" noises coming from the boot. It's really annoying for such a new car. I have to keep my radio on all the time. Does anyone else have the same rattling problems?

It may well be the radio - it's a fairly substantial thing when you pull it out. It comes out easily with a pair of cut-down coathanger- keys, the supporting cage is held in with a single large nut-thing.

Clunking from the boot area could be anything from a loose spare wheel to a lost exhaust support or a loose hatch or rear seat bolt. My car is very quiet - no rattles or thumps, so it may be something simple.

Have you had a look in the spare wheel well, etc?

Re: My Panda rattles

Yes I have checked the spare wheel/area and everything seems fine and secure. It could be something to do with the rear seat bolts so i'll check that out later. I dont really want to remove the radio in case I damage it or make it worse. Next time I take it for a service im going to mention the problems and see if they can fix them.

Re: My Panda rattles

On my Climbing 4x4 (03.2006), I had a rattle caused by loose screw, holding the fuse cover (links under the steering wheel).

Another rattle is located in both front doors (or belt area - not so easy to find out). Not yet solved.... it come on occasionally on stone-covered roads. Not too annoying, but I would be happy without tis rattle.

My slidey rear seats rattle and thump sometimes if I don't click them back into place properly. On previous cars I've had odd thumps coming from those large rubber bands that hook silencers into place when they've come off. Perhaps they'll have a look under the car when you take it in..

I don’t care if it’s a porn shoot in which he is being gang raped by a gaggle of silverback apes, if there are cameras rolling, everybody wins. 10 grand for anyone that can deliver this to me, today.

No I dont think its the airbag as it feels solid. The noise/rattle comes from the top centre of dash (cd player) and behind the speedometer. Im sure something is loose but i dont know exactly what/where

Re: My Panda rattles

I have had a significant rattle in the back - until I discovered it was the metal "key" on the seatbelts - you know, the bit you stuff in the slot to go "clunk click" (that ages me).

On my back seats, there is a sort of nylon runner/channel that the belt needs to sit in as it goes over the top of the seats. If you don't have it in there, the metal key bangs against the plastic trim on the car side beside the rear seats as you go along.

As to the rattle in the front, I can't explain that unless you have an (ex) girlfriend who has dropped coins into the air vents just to piss you off.... Lucky it is coins and not prawns.

Re: My Panda rattles

I have a tiny (and I mean tiny) rattle in the driver's door, by the tweeter, but it's only occassional.
I've found that if you don't unfold the rear seats back up properly (they need a bit of a slam to get both sides to lock in place) they squeak annoyingly.
Apart from that, it's totally squeak free. I wonder how it'll be after a few years and many thousands more miles.

Re: My Panda rattles

I had the same rattle from the cd/radio area. The dealer used some silicon spray to get rid of it. Also had the rattle from the airbag, again there was a lot of play in the airbag. This appears to be fixed too.
