UK Multijet 4x4 - When?

When are we going to yet the multijet 4x4 model in the UK? I know we've discussed this before, but what with the face-lift model coming up, I was hoping 2007 would be the year. Love my 4x4 1.2 petrol, but the mutlijet would be MUCH better.

Re: UK Multijet 4x4 - When?

From talking to Fiat today there are absolutely no plans to import the mutli 4x4 as Fiat reckon there is not the market here for it. Bit like the Barchetta.

Thank that idiot Roland Ellison from Fiat UK for it. He behaves like a monkey, acts like a monkey and reasons like a monkey. He thinks he is a marketing genius, but couldn't proove better than the opposite.

Speaking to many 4x4 owners and salesmen in different dealer ships thet wonder why on earth would someone not want to buy a Multijet 4x4.

Maybe we should sign a petition and send it to Fiat UK with a copy to Turin.

Almost every journalist who has ever reviewed the 4x4 thinks the same - why no Multijet 4x4?

Even from a point of emissions and fuel consumption only the 4x4 Multijet would be better. If we could get say a couple of hundred sigs on a petition from the other forum section users we'd be in with a chance. Would a Multijet 4x4 be that much more expensive to buy?

I heard a few excuses like Fiat was selling all the Multijet engines it could make to Vauxhall, and that there was no spare capacity, but.................

Also the trend in the Uk is for the 4x4 to have a lot more options like climate control specced by owners - maybe there's more money to be made by Fiat uk selling the 1.2 petrol option, fully loaded than a Multijet 4x4 basic model.

duh

Count me in.

Ok a petition is a great idea, how do we start one? May be we could send them extracts from this forum!

What a great combination, 4x4 & the multijet. Maybe Fiat will change their minds.

OT: diesel's not that clean

A common misconception (I believed it myself) but the 1.2 is still cleaner than the multijet. The consumption might of the multijet is lower and it produces less CO2 per kilometer, but it's the NOx and particles that put it behind the 1.2 environment-wise.

They're both EURO-4 engines, but the standards are not the same for gas and diesel. You can put a particle-filter on the multijet, though, and that would most likely make it the cleaner than the 1.2.

Thanks for that, I should have done the research. What we need is a Multijet running on 100% cooking oil. At least that would be carbon-neutral.. :-)

I've already run it on 100% chip fat. Runs OK.

Re: UK Multijet 4x4 - When?

We all need to keep on at Fiat UK and keep asking for the 4x4 deisel. Can't believe how short sighted Fiat UK are I feel another letter to Fiat coming on. Failing that, how about holding a demonstration outside the Fiat head office?
If I start a new thread called "Petition for UK Panda 4x4 multijet", do you think we could encourge members to sign it and we can pass it on to Fiat UK. Anyone work for Fiat on here?
