Panda tuning

Hi,

I own a Panda 1.3 JTD and I would like to let You all know about my experiences with chip tunung. The car is nearly 2 years old and it has 63000 km on the counter.

About one year ago I did the chiptuning in Belgrade in a firm which is a representative of digitaltuning (www.digitaltuning.ch) and the results were stuning. I could really feel those +30 HP. Anyone who drove the car couldn't belive how it goes. When I did the tuning it had about 35000 km on the counter. The only thing was that the car started using more fuel (about 1 l/100 km more, but that was not the problem with performances like that). It could do 0 - 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds.

About six months ago tha car started to smoke more and more from the exhaust when it is accelerating. I took it to the service for more than 5 times after that, but they coudn't find anything wrong about the car.

After few months of theese problems I decided to get the car to the service in Belgrade and leave it there until they solve the problem. Because of the warranty that I still have, I decided to remove the chiptuning and restore the original factory program. I didn't want to risk my warranty.

As the tuning was removed tha car immidiately stopped to smoke. Now there are no traces of smoke from the exhaust.

Also, the car is again using 4,5 l of diesel/100 km.

I don't want to scare anyone but this is my experience and I know I won't be tuning my other cars.

Besides this problem I am really satisfied with the car and I really love it.

Best regards,

Miroslav

Re: Panda tuning

I heard that its illegal to alter the emissions on a eobd car, apparently the dealer is required to ensue the eobd system is working correctly for the duration of the warranty period(and possibly beyond,to check but not warrant any parts)...this creates that 'grey' area when it comes to warranty.
I have asked if maping changes emissions in reference to eobd system on the forum but no one can answer, another possible problem is Fiat apparently have software to detect mapping wether this is true or not I cannot verify at this stage but will hopefully find out soon.

Re: Panda tuning

Scuse me, what is EOBD?

Interesting to read the report about the remapped Panda. I had nitrous oxide on
my last vehicle, but that had two-wheels.

As I see it, if the engine is producing more power it's producing more emissions, and tuned/remapped chipped engines use more fuel.

I'm quite fan of nitrous injected engines, the extra power is there when you need it (but only at full throttle) and the car returns to 'normal' with the system off. But in a Panda? Hmmm! Could be fun, especially with a diesel..

Re: Panda tuning

yah nitrus works on diesel also.. but the problem with new diesels is that the pressure needed is becomming a problem.

oh i have had my box on for a loong time now and even ajusted it to 100% increase and no smoke problems oh well abit in extreme cases...

more fuel ... hmmm no if i drive normal it uses less fuel than standard.

i dont think your clutch can handel 30hp more.. maby if it didnt increse the torqe but normaly it does. i havnt got a test of mine just yet but my clutch sliped after about 5000km with the box turned to 75%. and dont think it had 100hp there..

now im doing 0-60mph in 9.17sek
mods:
diesel rail box on 100%
sintermetal clutch
front mounted intercooler
bleedvalve to get the 1,5bars of boost

downside:
170km/h it gets an engine error (diesel fuelrail pressure to low)
