100HP Economical?....

...I think so!

Got this MPG on a run to Glasgow airport this morning. The journey was around 45 miles (return trip) mostly on the motorway. The highest it went was 52.5MPG on the way home but it dropped down to 51.4MPG when I came off the motorway. I must admit I was drving like a saint, I had my Dad in the car on the way there and on the way back I was really trying to drive economically and get the highest figures.

I'm really pleased with how the car has loosened up and improved over the last few thousand miles.

Has anyone else achieved higher MPG figures in their 100HP's?

Wow!

Picked mine up on Saturday and 220 miles later struggling to get 40 mpg!, so well done!.

That said must be the most fun you can have for a £8 - £10k car, mine feels just like a gocart and I'm loving it!

Re: 100HP Economical?....

Can I ask how quick you were going on the motorway?

I have a tendancy to follow the speed of the outside lane and it hammers the mpg a bit.

Well the motor was was pretty busy so around 40-60MPH plus some of the motor was is only a 50MPH limit. The average speed was showing at 41MPH on the trip computer so that should give you some idea.

I know what you mean about the MPG at higher speeds. When doing 70+ it does tend to suffer.

This isn't my usual type of driving though, I was just seeing how high I could get the figures to go. My overall average MPG is around 38-39MPG.

Re: 100HP Economical?....

Cheers fella. I have had decent mpg on some country road runs in traffic, not in 'race' mode

Exactly the same for me, usually sits about 38-38.5 mpg.

Re: 100HP Economical?....

Never seen the 50 mpg myself, but I have got a bit of a lead foot.

...but a full tank will get me all the way from Manchester to South London, (260 miles)...so I think thats not bad economy at around 38mpg again

I used to run a 1.4 Megane that only managed 29-31mpg on the north to south run, so im happier...

Re: 100HP Economical?....

I achieved 31.9 mpg across a tank on Saturday wearing out the local Hampshire and Wiltshire B roads with a group of friends. Normal tank average seems to be creeping up as the miles build and I'm easily achieving 38mpg across a tank now with it more typically being low to mid 40's.

Re: 100HP Economical?....

Mine does seem to be loosening up too, i can't match 51mpg but i managed just under 45mpg ave for the whole tank lately, very happy with that! included some fairly nippy motorway drives too. Nice to see better mpg, its like a little bonus.

Re: 100HP Economical?....

I have a drive to Glasgow (from Leeds) at start of August, on the way home I'm going to see what the best I can get now (av 36mpg at moment)

I know I wont get a good result on the way up there, I can wait to hit the A66 to Penrith

1st big run in the 100hp, looking forward to finding out what it's like on long journeys (off to Newquay in it next summer so this will be a test for it).

Wonder how far before I need to top the tank up

Hahaha. , seriously, saves fuel, and no a 3 hour journey from South London to home it only takes another 15 min. You don't have to overtake anyone (ok maybe a few slower) on the motor way, resulting in few lane changes and a easier less tyring journey
