Tailgate struts?

What are and where are the tailgate struts on my boot please?

The long black and silver poles either side of the tailgate, running between the car body and the tailgate, that hold it up when you open it. You can't miss them but why do you want to know?

The reason is because i have searched this forum to see if people are noticing rattling etc... and i heard that some people are removin their struts to stop the noise.

If you remove the struts the tailgate lid will fall on your head and you will hear a lot more than rattling!

I removed all of my rear suspension and now the ar$e of the car drags along like a run-over cat....

Still rattles though....
