Question Did you tick the ESP box? 100hp

Just wondered if anyone ticked the ESP box when ordering their Panda 100hp new or used?

I decided against it after EVO suggestion.

Also it would be nice to know what the ESP is like on the 100hp for people who have got it.

I find without the car is very moverable on the road and gives much more speed in the dry to bends and corners...... against the demo car i had a go in.

Why did they suggest that?

Re: Did you tick the ESP box? 100hp

I didn't tick it as I bought a pre-reg which didn't have it specced. However, had I had the choice, I wouldn't have bothered as it's a lot of money and in a city car with only 100 horses and lots and lots of grip I didn't really see it as necessary.

Maybe when I write the car off I'll change my mind

IIRC it was because it couldn't be fully disabled!

Exactly!

Didn't see the point of speccing ESP. I've only ever spun the inside front wheel slightly on a tight corner on track and found the chassis very communicative and controllable on the limit in this environment.

Makes even less sense on the road as I'm never going to drive it as hard as I do on track.

Re: Did you tick the ESP box? 100hp

Hi,

I wangled a good discount o the car and the options so chose ESP and extra air bags. Nothing would make me happier than to sell the car without having had to use any of these extras...

The ESP has never kicked in so far despite a few over optimistic entries into some roundabouts and the ASR only a couple of times from standing starts so I can't say that either is over intrusive however I haven't taken the car around a race track - yet.

nope, and ditto about EVO magazine, I bought the car based on their enthusiasm for it. Ive found them quite good judge so far.

I wouldn't bother personally, I like to know it's me in charge of the car not a computer

Re: Did you tick the ESP box? 100hp

Nope, because it couldn't be fully disabled. I don't need some chip to try and correct my cornering, especially on a track (ESP's tend to go bananas on sharp, banked bends).

I did go with all 6 airbags though. I don't mind it going sideways, but when it goes wrong... That's when I do care for that extra bit of safety.

Same here. Also, don't see the need for ESP on car with plenty of grip and only 100bhp.

Re: Did you tick the ESP box? 100hp

I haven't got ESP on mine, and see no need for it [had it in the Stilo 2.4, but that was a whole new ballgame...]

I can see the need maybe for the younger, inexperienced drivers - and why they vote so strongly for it - but I wanted to go back to old-school driving in this car and with oddles of grip and relatively low powered....

Re: Did you tick the ESP box? 100hp

No ESP on mine, but it was a pre-reg car so I couldn't slap a load of options on.

I did ask about it though, the salesman said he could get me a car with it on, but as road tests have said he reckoned it was a bit intrusive and maybe not worth the extra.

To the critics: if I had the choice of living horribly crippled by surviving the accident through ESP or dying in a spectacular fashion, I'll have the latter please

p.s. That's a joke, just thought I might have to point that out.....
