Panda ipod kit

Has anyone bought the ipod connector kit from Fiat for the Panda? Weighing up whether to get one or a multichanger, so just wondering if anyone knows what its like?

Re: Panda ipod kit

I have a non-Fiat (Dension) i-pod adapter in mine.

I didn't fancy losing most of the glovebox...

Re: Panda ipod kit

It looks like I'll be the lucky recipient of an iPod Nano shortly so I'm looking at an iPod connection kit for the Panda now. Where have you guys routed yours? I'm assuming that I'm going to have to hook the radio out to plug it in?

Chris

Re: Panda ipod kit

Mine was £80 from my dealer in September 2006. There's a control box which I secured behind the head unit as there is plenty of space (behind the fascia the HU is only 1 DIN) and I then ran the iPod cable round the back of the dash into the glovebox.

A coathanger bent into two U's provided me with radio keys - only because of my impatience and all shops being closed.

It's ok - I have ten playlists and use the HU to navigate up & down them and between tracks, but sadly no track display. How about the Harmon Kardon Drive & Play - seems to be a better solution (albeit requires power and uses an inline FM modulator) but the first edition is now selling on eBay (new) for under £50 I believe

let me know if you've got any more questions

Which dension product did you buy, and where did you get it from? Also happy with it, does it show track names on the radio display?

Cheers,

Andy

Re: Panda ipod kit

I'm getting one of these fitted tomorrow:

http://www.harmankardon.com/drive-1/default_dp1.aspx

I'll report back and let everyone know what it's like. It's about the only sensible option for me as I have the cd changer fitted.

Re: Panda ipod kit

It's just been installed, and I've had a quick play. 1st impressions are excellent.

Sound quality is good, it's hard wired into the FM aerial. No hissing or inteference.

Screen is very good, and fits nicely in the corner by the A pillar.

Control fits very nicely to the right of the gear stick, just below the window controls and the iPod fits in the glovebox, even with the changer in situ.

Dension Ice-link. It works ok for me, but I usually make up playlists as opposed to going for albums... It's a bit awkward if you have a load of albums on your i-pod to pick the album you want to listen to. I tend to only use it on longer trips, as I can't be bothered looking for another radio station when I get out of reception range of my usual radio station. My radio doesn't display track names as I have non-MP3 radio.

I have it three years now and the place I bought it from on the internet is long gone now.
