Dension ICE Link iPod kit

Hi there, now on the last leg of waiting for the 100HP to arrive so I'm attempting to sort out all the things I should have done already, one of which being the iPod kit.

I have heard that the Fiat iPod kit isn't all that, and although in my original car thread a member here said it was ok, I'm tempted to go with the Dension solution as thats what I have in my Lupo GTI and its worked great for two years.

However, having trouble locating what I need. When I ordered one for my Lupo it was quite easy tracking down the model number and there were lots of different ones. On ipodcarkitdirect I have found the 'Link Gateway 100', and it says 'with Aux-in'. Does this kit connect through the CD changer port like the one I already have?

When you select 'you factory radio' the only options are Blaukpunkt OEM, Low/Mid/Multipla Unit and a Grundig option. Could someone with experience with buying this kit for the Panda set me straight, am I along the right lines?

Plus, where do people buy from? Should I just get it from Halfords? Last time I got mine from cooltopia, but this was back in the fairly early days of iPod kits.

Re: Dension ICE Link iPod kit

I have one in my Panda, but it was fitted over 2 years ago now.

At the time I checked the links from the Dension website for suppliers. Although Carphone Warehouse do them now.

It was the Blaupunkt one that I've fitted in mine.

Re: Dension ICE Link iPod kit

I had a Connects2 ipod interface in my 55 reg Eleganza and thought that it would work in the 100HP but it doesn't,I think it's something to do with the Bluetooth because the unit looks indentical otherwise.I now use an FM Transmitter that works fine even in Central London, lot cheaper too at
£30.

Has anyone fitted the Dension kit? I have a non-MP3 head unit. Thanks.

Re: Dension ICE Link iPod kit

As I said above... I ordered mine in the early days (2 and a half years ago). I ordered through a link from the Dension website, however the company I got mine from no longer exists, but I believe that Halfords and Carphone Warehouse do them. A Fiat Blaupunkt one is what you're after... You can either get one with a cradle or wire it into the glovebox... I chose the latter so it wouldn't be on view just in case I forgot to lift the iPod out of the car.

Re: Dension ICE Link iPod kit

OK so the Dension kit arrived, with a cable that is the same size and shape as the existing blue connector to the stereo. However, that houses all the power connectors so I can't replace that with the iPod link cable...

The existing yellow connector is a different size and shape, and the iPod link cable seems to have way more wires than there are terminals on the stereo where the yellow connector goes...

So I am now very confused and wondering where to go...

Re: Dension ICE Link iPod kit

Sorry but without removing the radio, I really can't remember the installation... Two and a half years is a long time...

Re: Dension ICE Link iPod kit

I have given up trying to get this to work. Just couldn't get the head unit to see the Dension iPod connector. So now to see what other options I have for getting MP3 sounds into my 100HP (apart from stealing my brother's stereo out of his Multijet )

Re: Dension ICE Link iPod kit

Which Dension unit is it that you have? Is it the Gateway 100?

Re: Dension ICE Link iPod kit

Yeah that is the one. Comes with a blue plug that goes into the back of the head unit, but the iPod just doesn't do anything and there is no way to select that external source from the stereo...

Re: Dension ICE Link iPod kit

Odd. Mine will cycle to the face mounted CD if there is a CD in the slot, otherwise it says "no source" or something similar.

Am going to try the FIAT kit instead, there is one on Ebay...
