My old 2005 Panda MJ is now 12 years old and has covered 115,000 miles, but I feel the time is now when she is going to move on. I'm saddened to see that the MJ no longer figures in the latest Panda price list, although there are a few 3 year old examples out there so I think the 1.2 is going to be my choice. I may well feel the loss of the extra torque of the MJ II but if I want a new model, so be it.

My question is this, if anyone can help out: A 2017 1.2 Easy that I've seen has caught my eye, and I noticed that the Panda has gone up in tyre size since mine. However, as the new one has steel wheels, would my 14" FIAT alloys with 175/65 R14 tyres fit? I know the tyres are the same size and the wheels the same diameter as mine, but what about the PCD?

1. What you lose in torque you gain in quietness and smoothness and lazy gearchanges

2. Wheels will fit yes. Same PCD/bore and the offset and skinny 5 inches means no rubbing.

3. Have you checked if this is still available? Same full spec as mine but I paid £8295, so maybe flexible. They also have an Easy. They also delivered mine (70 miles) for free..........

I'm pretty sure both old and new models have a PCD of 4x98, offset of 35, centre bore of 58.1 and the same bolts.

I also seem to think the later models with 14" wheels (Pop and Easy) have 175/65 tyres too.

There's no doubt you'll miss the torque of the turbo diesel.
Though the 1.2 petrol is far smoother, quietier and more refined.

There have been a few complaints later model 1.2's from around March 2014 don't drive as well as earlier ones.

We've owned both, a 2012 and a 2014 at the same time and it's true, the later 1.2 seemed a little strangled and tight, it can feel quite harsh if you really flog it from the lights.

It also takes over the fueling and raises rpm it's self when you lift clutch, far more than the older model.
This can cause it to bog down if you apply too much throttle input yourself at the same time.
It seems all modern cars do this to some extent these days!

If you really are going to miss the torque (and the noise, vibrations and rattles) of your MJ, try test driving a Twinair.
It's a strange animal and not everyone's cup of tea, but it can be quite fun and there really is nothing else like it.

Both Panda's 169 and 312/319 have the same Offset, PCD and Centre Bore. :D
