hi all,
not often I post in here,

we will be in the market for a smallish VED free , or at least sub-£35..

car soon,

we've had a 2004 panda ( 1.1) for 13 years - great car

and a 2012 5 door punto TA for 4 hassle free years.

TA was bought for it's cruise control , and sensible performance VS MPG
has the bonus of the 6 speed box - so @50 mpg is standard for me..

does the TA have a 6 speed and CRUISE option..?? and at what launch date / spec.
we will be buying a 2014/15 car with relatively low miles.. my punto has only 30K

any info much appreciated - thanks, (y)

Don't think they ever had cruise, though the sister car - the Chrysler Ypsilon in SE spec (sometimes) and Platinum spec (always) had cruise. Twinair and 1.2 . Only five cogs though. Also........the.....errrr..........looks.

I'm not sure cruise was ever offered as standard or even an option.

Conrad Anderson do an aftermarket system for the TA, looks like it's plug and play.

Looks like they've dropped the price too.

I think someone on here fitted one to theirs.
Looks like it was Ringa

I was interested in this myself, but I've been driving our new Vitara with it's radar cruise/brake system and straight cruise just won't do anymore!

I also seem to think the 2wd Panda TA comes with 5 cogs, only the 4x4 TA gets 6.

The 4x4 TA is six speed, and someone has posted about an aftermarket cruise control option;)

Cheers each..

I like the looks of the @2004 Ypsillon - proper CUTE - OH doesn't like the modern UK one.. and prices are NOT cheap enough..

6 speed 4x4 = crawler +5.. so not really an "overdrive" - correct me if I've got that wrong,

don't understand the quote about corsa and MJ..??
I've successfully dodged that engine for 10+ years.. - NOT a fan.. hence my TA

Conrad Anderson have being making aftermarket cruise ..it would appear.. FOR DECADES

TBH - I would probably NOT spend LOTS on a conversion..
I could probably buy a better car for the difference.

cheers,
Charlie

Yes, the 4x4 TA's 1st gear is about as low as a worms scrotum, it makes pulling away a bit tiring in traffic as it'll hit the rev limiter before you can blink.

Though 6th is pretty leggy and that can result in dropping a cog if you hit a incline at times.

Chevrolet Aveo was example Charlie of a car nobody bought that's worthless with a decent spec (including cruise control). They do a 1.2 of course. But doubt that's £20 to tax like the diesel. Never wished I had cruise control on any of my recent shape Pandas. Probably as all been new and I daren't risk it.

It would be interesting to see what the difference in ratios is between the 'standard' 5 speed and a 6 speed box. I can't say I find 1st particularly 'short', but I've always gone to second gear as soon as any car I've had is rolling comfortably, so don't linger there anyway.:)

Chrysler in previous post looks like a Mito to me. Fiat remote keys with Chrysler badging. At least comes with 2 remotes. Not aware any Fiat model does.

FYI , they are all LANCIA models..,
but the UK stopped Officially importing Lancia in 1994..,

but by 2005 Chrysler had a current UK network so :

FIAT Chrysler Automobiles ..rebadged the lancias

TBH - the UK Ypsillon 2010'ish looks more like the Ka than the Panda they are all based on:rolleyes:
