I've put part no 55256470 into Google to check it's the right item I require, however there seems to be two versions of the same part! One is stumpy and one is long, I wonder which is correct?

Have a look at the one already on there.
Usually a stumpy one is only needed if there is insufficient space for a non stumpy one.
Shop4parts have a pic of genuine part that doesn't look stumpy.
